And this legality babble is inane when you're talking about lives that are endangered.
Oh really eh? So laws only apply when they support your agendas I take it?
Hypocrits
And this legality babble is inane when you're talking about lives that are endangered.
Who is going to pay for all that? Why should Canada do this?
Should we house, feed, provide health care and educational opportunities to these individuals and then pay for trials to prove that they entered the country illegally, or should we excuse all the people that entered the country illegally and only focus on the smugglers and terrorists ... and for what purpose should someone pay for this trial?
Someone on the ship had died, looks like you have some erroneous information my friend.
I wonder where you get this idea in your head that they're terrorists, that they're a part of the Tamil Tigers?
Tamil asylum-seekers spark Canadian vitriol, anger - thestar.com
“When the government uses words like smuggling, Tamil Tigers and terrorists, most Canadians assume there is evidence,” said Siemiatycki. “But there isn’t … and making statements like that is irresponsible and does terrible injustice to the people on the boat.”
The Canadian government is partially responsible for stoking this mass hysteria, he added.
So they've found a loophole that gets them into a safe country and out of danger quick as possible?
So, another one more concerned with money than with people.
So, another one more concerned with money than with people.
That's a funny leap of logic.
No. I am not more concerned about money than people. I do question why anyone would want to hold trials for 490 people that entered the country illegally with the hope of determining who were smugglers.
Oh really eh? So laws only apply when they support your agendas I take it?

I didn't say that. Do you have comprehension problems?
Oh you're right, law is more important than a person's safety and well-being.
So, you're one that likes to address the person rather than the discussion.
What were we talking about again?
Oh you're right, law is more important than a person's safety and well-being.
There were many other countries where the Tamil's could have landed other then Canada. They saw Canada as an easy target and they abused it. But with your logic, we are to have a ticker tape parade marking their arrival?
Tamil migrants arrive in Metro Vancouver for refugee hearings
no, i've already been over that argument.
When law makes allowance for personal safety and well being, yes, law is more important. Canadian law does make allowance for the above. Since these people are safe, healthy, well, criminals (having illegally entered the country; not refugees), and able to pay ... put them on a plane, and send them home.
The point of your article is?
CTV news said one death and a burial at sea.Perhaps you have a link? Hopefully that person was brought to shore for a proper burial (if that is the custom). Is that how officials knew that someone had died, or was this person just an unaccounted for name on the roster?
Funny coming from a person who hates people from the US. Would you have the same attitude if the US was in need and they rushed our borders? Doubt it

Ya, that's about it.
I've stated what I feel should be done. None of it includes worrying about how much, or sinking ships or sending back to face possible death and/or persecution.
Why would innocent refugees face death and persecution? These people traveled on a transport ship in relative comfort for three months. They employed smugglers, rather than fill out an immigration application form and get on a plane. They were economically successful after living for years in a war torn country, and had no reservation about paying smugglers fees.
Forget about the ship, put them on a plane. Give them gratis meals, magazines, movies, newspapers, and drinks to escort them home. Forget about trials ... the guys that stick around wondering what's going to happen the ship are most likely connected to the guys that own the ship ... the smugglers.
Maybe Canada should seize the ship ... turn it into an ocean liner sailing from Canada to the Far East.
