Respect has to be earned and junior didn't.
I do understand your concern since if I was an American taxpayer I most certainly would not like to see my tax dollars used for partisan purposes.
Aside from that I am not sure that having Airforce 1 is all that convenient for campaign purposes since it is a 747 and can only land at the large airports. Also requires a lot of extra security that may make campaigning difficult. It is also a big target.
