imagine how i feel, im on the other side of the continent and i am afriad my little brother could be jumped by union thugs at any time. Hes a big kid, and you know how mobs like ganging up on the big boys.....If anyone hurts my family id throw my life away to get rrevenge

That's the problem with unions today. They've degenerated into nothing more than drunkards at the pub looking for a fight.

Good luck with going to union cops who may have personal issues against the scabs too.

They aren't called brotherhoods for nothing. Stabbing your brothers in the back is not a good thing in a small city.

The police are required to be neutral. They don't take any side other than the law's. Threatening harm to another is illegal.

What!?

Why don't they just join the Hell's Angels. The'd fit in nicely there. If money's their concern, and they don't care about hurting others and breaking the law, then they should have no issue with pushing cocaine on impressionable youth to make some quick cash. Get rich, kill a few people, sounds like they'd blend right in.

I have been watching and I've seen the same corporation and others settle with foreign unions for larger percenatges with government and national support.

Do you feel Sudbury miners are unique in their demands?

I have been watching and I've seen the same corporation and others settle with foreign unions for larger percenatges with government and national support.

Do you feel Sudbury miners are unique in their demands?

But did they agree to rehire people who had proven themsleves dangerous to others and having little respect for rules and the law?

If they have so little respect for rules, then are they not also a safety concern down in the mines where following rules is required for safety reasons?

And why hire thugs when they can hire anyone else among the unemployed who would love to have a job and who do respect rules?

apparently yes

i wouldnt want to work next to people who assault other people? would you? the union sure wants too

I've never worked in a mine before, but I'd imagine that in a mine, I'd want to know that I can trust the guy next to me not blow the place up and kill us all because he wants to always do things his way, or start a fight because I looked at him the wrong way. Not exactly conducive to team spirit now is it, especially when we have to trust that we will look out for each other down there if anything goes wrong. The thug might appear tough, but only to protect himself. If things go bad in a mine, the thug would be the first one sprinting for the exit. Certainly not the kind of guy you can trust to stick around through thick and thin to help others in need in an emergency.

By the way, this leads to another question. With so many thugs down there, how can they really be sure that the deaths are workplace related and not resulting form a good old beating of a scab?

Here is a fact I'd like to see you disprove.

During the past 10 years of global economic strife only one industry has seen exponential growth with record profits that kept Canada from ending up serious economic loss and that is mining and they did it with the majority being union.

Do you know whose pension funds have been invested back into CDN mining to further increase the CDN mining indusrty while the bulk of the profits go off shore? Canadian unions.

Do I need to prove that that productivity went down during a strike?

Certainly co-determination laws would be a preferable means of ensuring common goals are met, no? Besides, Germany does that already; why not Canada?

Why did production drop if cheap scabs are doing the work?

Why not Canada? Because Canada is rapidly turning fascist. Germany can't go back down that road until a lot of wounds heal.

So would you give him a good beating the second he turns his back?Like I said, such people might as well just join the Hells Angels; much better pay than mining, and more fun too for those who like to beat people up for fun.

Because Canada is rapidly turning fascist. Germany can't go back down that road until a lot of wounds heal.

Fascist? Hardly.

A brotherhood is a brotherhood whether an army of soldiers or an army of workers. When you joined you fully knew what you were getting into if you took the union job because it pays well but are unwilling acknowledge your brothers who went through far harder times then you deserve what you get.

Sorry but we have gone fascist and you are going to see far bigger union against foreign managment as we sink deeper into global fascism.

We are all going to be needing more income and job security sooner than you think.

$10M for families of men killed in gold mine blast

EDMONTON - In a landmark decision that could send a chill through labour relations, the families of nine murdered Yellowknife gold miners were awarded $10.7 million in damages.
The Northwest Territories Supreme Court ruled Thursday that the blame for the murders should be shared between Roger Warren, who set the bomb that killed the men, the miners' union, the N.W.T. government and a now-defunct mining company.
In 1995, Warren was convicted on nine counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of the men, who had been working in Yellowknife's Giant Mine in the midst of a vicious and violent labour dispute

So you advocate violence and then express fear of fascism?! Are you a Stalinist by any chance?

No kidding. Have you noticed too by the way that not once in this thread has anyone advocated violence against unions and union workers in spite of the fact that we disagree with what they're doing? But sure enough, Petros would beat me black and blue if I were working next to him if I were a scab. As stated earlier, no different from the Hell's Angels.

Hmmmm... Petros, are you Hell's Angel by any chance?

They aren't the first scabs to be blown to bits and won't be the last.

And you'd be glad to assist I assume?

So, Petros, what makes you any different from the guys who crashed their planes into the WTC towers?
