Personally I think we should be spending our 'aid' money on our own people: the natives, the homeless, etc. People who would appreciate it.

I agree, we have thousands of mentally ill homeless people walking the streets in freezing cold winters and Anna wants to send billions to dictators.

If you read the posts above, AnnaG is not stating the out of context twist
on what you are pointing out, but that the Canadian Gov't is already doing
much globally with charity, and there are many other private charities in
Canada that're also doing much globally. That's not saying that much
isn't also being done at home by both Gov't & NGO organizations.

Helping those in greatest need - Starvation tops the list - Followed by refugess from genocide as in Darfur - Sudan and other countries - followed by dying from lack of clean water - along with malaria tents for sleeping areas - average diseases that kill millions that are non existent in canada -

The West or any other entity has no proven track record of success in nation building yet we keep spending billions and ending lives thinking we can.

We can't save the world from itself and in many cases we should just pack up and go home and let these places figure it out on there own.

Like I said before in the case of natural disasters Like Haiti I'm all for assisting them just like we helped the U.S. when Katrina destroyed New Orleans.

Sorry Gerryh, just very frustrated by the multiple make-work projects on
the same Topics in multiple Threads. My bad. If people didn't behave
so poorly in them, resulting in constant reports, I'd honestly never
look inside one of them.
