But, by the end of the montreal series, montreal has become
a 'real playoff team', and must be so pumped and ready for
anyone.

Halak was solid , from what i got on the news but the defense were blocking as many shots as Halak was ........team effort !
this is looking like the Habs of 86 , the year Patrick Roy joined the Canadians

I was thinking about crosby tonight, he would have been
gearing himself and his team to be ready to play washington,
now they have to do a 360 and think about playing montreal.
Very different for them now, and it will be interesting
to see how pitts do against montreal, I think better than
washington did.

Had Washington have won Pitts would be playing Philadelphia, methinks.......NO?

No, the Caps would have got the Flyers and the Pens would have got the Bruins.

Halak deserves a lot of credit for standing tall, but his D played extremely well in front of him and they took Ovechkin right out of the series. He got shots but they were from a long way out, which can be dangerous if he gets the perfect shot away (which he CAN do) but which aren't as dangerous as when he is weaving in and out of guys, using them as screens.

Hard to believe its time for round 2 already...

Penguins vs Habs - I don't like the Habs chances in the next round, against another offensively talented team, with more depth, playoff experience and a better back end. Couple that with the way Crosby showed last year, this season and the Olympics what leaders are made of... Pittsburgh in 5

Bruins vs Flyers - Boston has found a goalie in Rask and has more scoring talent, even if they didn't have a great season. Philly's injuries are going to put them in a hole against a pretty decent Boston team. Bruins in 6

Red Wings vs Sharks - I hate picking against the Red Wings. I hate Nabokov in the playoffs: he just doesn't seem to be able to elevate his game enough on the big stage. But I can't see the Energizer Bunny of Detroit going past the San Jose this time... Sharks in 5

Canucks vs Blackhawks - One word: ouch. Both teams started shaky but then found ways to pick it up including their goalies improving their games as their respective series went on. Both have suspect blue lines because of injuries. I think Chicago has more depth of talent, but Vancouver has the top assist man in the NHL this year. I think Chicago is tougher and faster than LA was, I think Vancouver is faster and more talented than Nashville was. Flip a coin... Blackhawks in 7

forgot about that, washington would play bottom seed, so he wasn't thinking
about washington at all, didn't expect to play them,
thanks for correction.
Wonder how montreal will do against pitts., I'm not even
going to begin to think the same might happen, seems too
bazzaar but!!!!!! montreal aren't the same team that played
the first game against washington either, they have caught
the confidence bus and the playoff bus and the I believe
bus, - does make a difference.

I'd love to see detroit knock off san jose, but I don't think they have had enough 'down' time, and four wins over
san jose will take it's toll on energy, I think detroit will
do some sagging along the way, (they are still my choice)
I think both goalies can be shaky, but nabokov has the
experience.

Everyone's looking forward to the canuck/hawk series, as the
'one' to watch, hope both teams live up to billing.
Goalies and defense for both teams will be the key, as they
both have lots of depth up front.
(have to go with canucks of course)

Pittsburg (with crosby) can never be ignored, he will lead
that team anywhere he wants them to go, pittsburg goalie
will be the key.(i'll take pittsburg, but hope for montreal)

I think boston will prevail because of phillys key injuries,
although they didn't have any trouble in last game without
those players, but over 7 games will hurt them.

By the same token Talloola Vancouver wasn't the same team in the last three games of the series against LA as they were in the first three games. Their confidence level has risen considerably. Chicago gets home ice advantage for whatever that is worth. but Vancouver has probably the best forward line in hockey as well as the best goaltender. I'm gonna say Canucks in six.

That's right, they aren't the same team, but this lay off
isn't good either, but then chicago is waiting too, so
maybe first game will be awkward for both teams.

I have seen chicago go through some bad times this season,
where their team looked average, and they did same against
nashville too, could easily have lost that series, BUT I
think they will snap out of 'any of that' attitude when
playing canucks, should be a good series, then again
canucks might be 'too' much for chicago this time.

Our defense will be the key, no injuries please.

well, the slow start by detroit and the two poor calls by the refs contributed to the loss by detroit in first game
against san jose, those damn referees always seem to get
in there and become part of the game, instead of just making
sure the game goe along smoothly and 'fairly', um wrong word.

san jose 4 detroit 3

What- the Pens over Montreal? Nah, can't have any of that nonsense...........:smile: Pens already won a couple of Cups anyway. Time to bring it back to Canada.
Ah, JLM, it was Sidney Crosby's winning goal at the Olympics which got me interested in watching the play-offs in the first place so I will stick with the Penguins and see how far they can go. Should make for some interesting comments here, if nothing else.

Penguins play tonight and I will be glued to my set cheering loudly.

Can hardly wait to see how Sidney does against Halak. Talk about a match-up. Go Penguins!

Methinks you spoke too quickly, JLM. Things are not looking so cheery for them now.

Good on PK Subban. Nice, unassisted goal. He seems to be totally engaged in the play when he is on the ice - and only twenty years old.

Bad on the Hab that cut Sidney. Absolutely no need for that kind of b**shyte.

Well here come the Canadians - they just scored another goal. Maybe we will have a game here after all.

3 - 2 for the Penguins, late in the second period.

OOPS!

He shoots! He scoreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees! Yee Haw Penguins.

4 -2 with a minute to go in the second.

GO, PENGUINS, GO!

Staal is out for the third period. No word yet on his injury. Didn't stop the Pens from scoring though. Yet another power play goal. Geez, Canadians! What is with all these penalties?

5 - 2 Pens in the third.

Oh good, they pulled Halak. Poor guy did not have a good night.

It's good the way it happened tonight. We want those Habs as tuckered out as possible when they come up against the Canucks in another month.:lol::lol:

Montreal looked tired tonight including Halak, they needed
a couple of more days off, consequently they took dumb
penalties.

They lost this one, but it was their own fault, they are
in this tournament, just need to tidy up their game a little, stop the penalties and get a little more energy.
They only have a day and a half till next game, still not
enough rest.

Yes PK Subban is a great find, he will be a star.
