YES, he absolutely is in line for MVP award, BUT it will be
very interesting watching how they go about it. It is
voted on, and we'll see how much attention has been paid
to Henrik from those back east voters, who most times don't
even bother watching our games from the west, because of
the time difference.

Ovetchkin definitely should not win the MVP, when he was
injured, his team just chugged along still scoring lots
of goals, and didn't miss a step, and they said that if
all of his goals were taken away, they still would have
been the overall winners.
It seems to be that Crosby will be given most chance to
win that award, but I don't trust the eastern hockey people
to consider henrik.

We'll see. Hope I'm wrong.

SEDIN WINS ART ROSS TROPHY

The Art Ross Trophy is an annual award given to the player who leads the League in scoring points at the end of the regular season. Sunday, 11.04.2010 / 8:17 PM / News Vancouver CanucksVancouver (April 11, 2010) -- Vancouver Canucks centre Henrik Sedin captured his first career Art Ross Trophy as National Hockey League scoring champion.
Sedin finished the 2009-10 regular season with a League-leading, career-high and Canucks franchise-record 112 points (29 goals, 83 assists) to edge Pittsburgh Penguins centre Sidney Crosby (51-58--109) and Washington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin (50-59--109). Sedin becomes the first Canuck in franchise history and the ninth player in the past nine seasons to capture the Art Ross, joining Jaromir Jagr in 2001, Jarome Iginla in 2002, Peter Forsberg in 2003, Martin St. Louis in 2004, Joe Thornton in 2006, Sidney Crosby in 2007, Alex Ovechkin in 2008 and Evgeni Malkin in 2009.

Sedin, Crosby and Ovechkin waged a neck-and-neck battle for the NHL points lead throughout the second half of the season, with Sedin regaining the lead by tallying four assists in a 7-3 win over the Calgary Flames in his season finale Saturday. Ovechkin, needing three points to overhaul Sedin in his season finale Sunday, was held without a point in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Boston Bruins. Hours later, Crosby nosed past Ovechkin into second place by tallying five points (two goals, three assists) in a 6-5 overtime win over the New York Islanders.

ART ROSS TROPHY

The Art Ross Trophy is an annual award given to the player who leads the League in scoring points at the end of the regular season.

Arthur Howie Ross, former manager-coach of the Boston Bruins, presented the trophy to the NHL in 1947.

If two players finish the season with the same number of points, the trophy is awarded in the following manner: 1. Player with most goals; 2. Player with fewer games played; 3. Player scoring first goal of the season.

The team has done very well, but so much depends
on the health of those defensemen who are injured, but
they say, with the exception of Mitchell, all apparantly
are going to be fine for playoffs.

Isn't it ironic, they kept salo out to rest him, then he
was injured practicing, 'go figure'. He's so dependable,
our best defenceman, he has to play, and play the whole
playoffs, they need him, they need all of them.

I'm glad we're playing l.a., not because I think we will win, but because it is good for both teams, travel-wise,
just a jaunt up and down the coast, will not be tiring,
which is an advantage.

I don't give any western team the advantage over another,
nothing will surprise me.

The joke going around is Salo got hurt during the team photo.

yeah, I heard that one too, I remember a couple of years
ago, when they were doing the 'shirt off the back' ceremony
for the fans, the announcer in the rink, announced to the
fan, "don't shake his hand too hard", it might cause an
injury, how embarrassing for him to hear that, was just
blurted out, before thinking.

We can joke about Salo but few defensmen have a shot like Salo from the point, and he is a good defenseman. Let's hope he stays healthy.

yes, juan, I mentioned that above, he is our best defenceman, and must be there all through the playoffs
for the team to be deep enough on defense.

The one constant problem the canucks had all season, was
their play on the road, not a very good record at all, so
that will be their undoing if they continue, they must bring
that up to playoff quality to have success, and that is
not luongo, it is the whole team.

Our home record was 'awsome', our away record was 'poor'.

One horrible thought has just occurred to me.................. While I don't see too much problem against L.A. their next opponent is going to be (trust me) Chicago. Their road record is only mediocre and with Chicago, they lose home ice advantage. My heart tells me the Canucks should win the Cup, my head tells me S.J., Chicago or Phoenix have the advantage.
