Why are tea baggers white?

Most Hispanics in south Florida which are composed of Cubans consider themselves white. You couldn't tell the difference from a picture.

They may consider themselves white ironsides, but whites don’t consider them to be whites. Indeed, white conservatives consider them to be lower than blacks.

I remember there was a telling moment in All in the Family. Archie Bunker is trapped in an elevator with a black and a Hispanic. He is having a heated argument with the Hispanic about equality. The Hispanic claims

“I as fully equal to you in everything, Mr. Bunker.”

Bunker retorts

“Equal to me? You ain’t even equal to him (pointing to the black)”.

There is plenty of bad blood between Hispanics and white Republicans. That is why a great majority of them vote Democratic (though not in as lopsided numbers as blacks do).

Why do you still like the NY Times so much then? They have been creating news for years.

I never said I liked New York Times ironsides, I hardly ever read it. However, it has a very good reputation; it is internationally regarded as a respectable, reputable publication. I would have no hesitation in using it as a reference. FOX is merely regarded as the mouthpiece of the Republican Party.

Are you speaking for all White people, last I saw, Spain is a white Caucasian country as JLM pointed out, Cuba is directly descended from them. There are other races living in Cuba, and they are the ones lumped into the "Hispanic" category. I know they have all those check offs during a census when your supposed to mark your race, why they do that who knows it is a obsolete practice. The only support Obama and the Left can count on race wise will come from the Black population. By the way, a lot of Mexicans do not like to be referred to as Hispanic either, they are Mexican/Spanish. As for bad blood between Hispanics and Republicans, you are way off base. It was the Democrats who left the Cuban freedom fighters at the Bay of Pigs. They have never forgiven the Democrats for that. From that point on, they became pretty much a united front against the Democrats no matter what country they came from.

"Look at any tea party rally. Most of the faces are white male."

True, when you look at the doctored and edited - in other words totally biased and false - presentation by Democrat mouthpieces like CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC etc.

The real picture is white and black, young and old, male and female. All the ever increasing population who are coming to realize that voting for this petulant, egotistical, and most frighteningly, unprepared, phoney, they bought a pig in a poke.

So you are basing this assumption on a fictional TV show. News flash...Archie Bunker was a fictional character.

Ah, but apparently fictional tv characters are accurate representations of society, so it is perfectly valid to use tv sitcoms as a way of perceiving the world. Or so I was told.

Whenever NIMBY Liberals accuse conservatives of being racist we know our views on race are just right.

Content of character, not color of skin. NIMBY Libs should try that instead of the continuous pandering and attempting to divide the middle class of all races and poor people of all races.

Any fictious character is simply the extension of the creator of that character.

In Archie Bunker's case, its creator was one of the most liberal, indeed communist character in Hollywood. Look it up!

Didn't work so well for VP Dan Quayle when he tried to use "Murphy Brown" as an example. He was mocked are critisized and rightfully so.

Cuban immigrants are the only part of Hispanics who vote consistently Republican (though even that is changing, I understand the younger generation is more inclined to reach an accommodation with Cuba and are more likely to vote Democratic, one of the reason why Obama won Florida in 2008 . )

As to other Hispanics, they usually vote Democratic by a martin of 65 or 70%. Google for Hispanics and you will find articles like the following all over the place.

Republicans and Hispanics continue growing apart | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News | Columnist Mercedes Olivera | Dallas-Fort Worth News

The articles starts with “Hispanic Republicans are an endangered species. That's not wishful thinking on the part of Democrats. It's a growing concern by Hispanic Republicans themselves, and they say the GOP leadership seems oblivious to it.”

During the immigration debate Hispanics and Republicans grew far apart, there was an outright hostility, hatred towards Hispanics by many Republicans, talk radio etc.

Democrats have got the Hispanic vote pretty much sowed up, similar to black vote. Also the personal, vicious attacks on Sottomoyer by Republicans did not endear them to Hispanics either.

No, Republicans have plenty of work to do before they can get support form Hispanics.

That is not what we see on TV, YJ. It may be that is what the far right websites (such as TownHall) claim. But I would much rather believe New York Time, CBS, ABC or a whole bunch of mainstream publications that believe FOX, WorldNet Daily or TownHall.

He may have been fictional but he represented American conservatives pretty accurately, EagleSmack. Sure, being a comedy show, they exaggerated to get laughs, but there was plenty of realism at its roots.

Thus a conservative probably wouldn’t say to a Hispanic that he is not even equal to a black, but that is pretty much what he may be thinking.

Funny how the liberal did not come up with a derisive monicker when a few yahooes protested at G.W. Bush's Crawford ranch, led by the ultimate idiot (now reviled by both Left and Right) Cindy Sheehan.

By the way, it is also funny that the liberals/Democrats try to make "tea-bagger" a derisive term. One of their most vocal supporting group is the gays, who routinely engage in, glorify and santify tea-bagging.

Like I said, SirJosephPorter: the doctored and edited versions on your favourite biased TV channels. And Let me ask you: when did you ever see anything broadcast by WorldNetDaily or TownHall?

You are truly deserving of the "I" word: next to the most obvious, consider IDEALOUGE.

If you want to believe the crap you see on CBS (examplified by Dan Rather) you are welcome to your delusions.

Congratulations, Houdini, Edgar Cayce, Notradamus and of course, Al Bundy all rolled into one: You know what is in other people's minds and what they are thinking.

I made some popcorn so I could enjoy this thread, but you guys aren't holding up your reputations. You'll have to crank up the lunacy, the exaggeration, and the deliberate misunderstanding of what you're reading if you expect this thread to have any life to it.

I have never accused conservatives of being racist, EagleSmack (unlike you, you have accused liberals of being racist). What I have said (and I stand by it) is that according to most blacks, conservative are racist, that is why they overwhelmingly vote against conservatives.

To some extent same applies to Hispanics as well. While not as overwhelming as in the case of blacks, Hispanics routinely vote for Democrats, for liberals over conservatives 65:35 or 70:30.

So it wouldn’t surprise me if many Hispanics consider Republicans racist (especially after the immigration debate and the absolutely vicious, diabolic trashing of Sottomoyer by the Republicans)).
