The idea of gift giving throughout the years have given significant value to promote healthy relationships or in forming new ones. But it's interesting that online, the idea of helping each other on forums or anywhere in uncanny. People around the globe will help each other for no real return, but the availability to be able to ask for help when needed.

Why help someone for no real reason? Are people more willing to help people online than in reality?

Any thoughts on this topic?

Sometimes, people help as a way of showing off, either knowledge or talent. Other times, people help simply because they are motivated to add to the greater good. Few of us are nasty ALL of the time, almost everyone has brief moments of goodness. And typically, on the net, it takes less effort to help than it does in 'reality'.

I agree with you, TenPenny. All the above reasons could apply when it comes to helping out on the net. I might add that anonymity, not being face to face, might also be a factor.


But then, that's just my opinion. ;-)
