"So what if he's gay? What difference does that make in validity of someones opinion? "

None, whatsoever, CDNBear!

The difference is when he calls me a right-wing, extremist, Bible-thumper nutbar, he does it without bases in reality and with utmost intent to demean and hurt, I only refer to HIS posts to support MY posuition. And I do it - unlike him - without malice.

Thank goodness. I'm glad to hear that. That puts you well above joey on the intellect scale.

I got ya, a case of tit for tat. I fully understand and appreciate your frustration.

Carry on then, my apologies.

Without any basis, YJ? Do you deny that you agree with the religious right on most issues (abortion, homosexuality, death penalty etc.)? To you, that may signify nothing, to me that is the evidence enough.

I like how you avoided facing the reality that I defended you, and supported the fact that everyone's opinion is valid, no matter their sexuality...:lol:

"OK by me. And just for the record, you did not Acquiesce to anything."

As an immigrant who had to learn English to survive, it always gives me great pleasure to put a pretentious, pompous punk in his place, who does not have enough ken of his mother tongue, or else too lazy to apply/use it properly. .

While I acknowledge that I made a spelling error in my post (which you were quick enough to point out by capitalizing the word I misspelled) the dictionary definition of the word "acquiesce" is: "to comply with readily, or put up no opposition to".

That is EXACTLY what I did. Spin it!

I thought we were done discussing this, YJ. But if you insist, exactly what did you ‘comply with’, or ‘put up no opposition to’? You did not change your views on anything. You simply called off the debate.

There is nothing wrong with that of course, perfectly appropriate. But you did not "acquiesce" in anything. ‘Acquiesce’ means you would agree with something or would agree to do something. You did not, you simply called off the debate.

And if pointing out the spelling error bothers you so much, you should look up the word in the dictionary before you post it (there are free on line dictionaries, you know).

And if you were to use the word as described in a thesaurus. It can also mean "yeild".

I can see how your exalted intellect might miss that.

I love polls like this...

Gain in support out West for the Conservatives - big shock. They can pick up, what, 2 seats?

Cons are down to 16 in Quebec (i.e. dead in the water) - no extra seats there - plus error is +/- 6!!!

Ontario - dead heat.

Maritimes - sample size too small...

Yeah - this is great poll. Iggy should be quaking. (I hope my sarcasm is coming through)

The numbers are not important. It is the direction of movement and yes Iggy should be concerned. A competent party and leader should be 10-20 points ahead of Harpo or, at the very least, have increasing poll numbers not decreasing.

Cannuck - I appreciate what you are saying. However, 10 - 20 points ahead? I don't see that happening again in our lifetimes (unless the NDP or Bloc cease to exist)

There are 2 simple realities going forward that people need to grasp.

1) We are in for minority governments for the long haul now. Harper will not win a majority. Ever.
2) Until we get grown-ups running the show, we will have elections every 12 to 18 months.

I've been quiet lately - trying not to bash Harper too much. I'm *trying* to keep an open mind as we head to an election - but the rhetoric is already getting to me.

1) Iggy can not force an election. Last time I checked, his 77 seats can't force an election. He needs the votes from not one - but BOTH other parties. If Harper truly wants to avoid an election - he can work with either NDP or Bloc. Seeing how he refers to them as left-wing nut jobs and separatist scum, I don't see that happening (I guess he shouldnt' have burned those bridges back in November/December last year) - but some how this is now Iggy's fault?

2) The moment that the Liberals pull their support - things start happening. Now that Iggy's issued the threat, Harper has a plan for EI. WTF is that? That is working together? Sorry - the guy is an ass. That is the prime example of why our government will continue to be disfunctional for the foreseeable future.

3) I also enjoy how the partisans jump all over Iggy for not giving his plans out for how he will reduce the deficit, etc... - how about the same critism back at Harper. He's the guy in charge at the moment - what's his plan? Nothing. I don't expect Iggy's plan until after the writ is dropped. Harper's - I expected months ago.

Thankfully - I'm going to Africa in a couple of weeks - so I'll be spared the political gamesmanship garbage until mid-October.

I really hope there is a Libertarian candidate in my riding....

"However, your views are virtually identical to those of the self proclaimed Bible thumpers, the religious right. You agree with religious right on most issues, abortion (against), death penalty (for), gay marriage (against) and so on.

So whether you are literally a Bible thumper or not is not the point. Anyway, seeing that you are a Catholic, I assume you probably disagree with Bible thumpers on obscure theological issues (how is Salvation achieved? etc.). But when it comes to views on most issues, there is very little difference between you and the Bible thumpers (the religious right). "

And since your views regarding gay sex and any and all its sick connotations are exactly identical to those of any and all of the most prominent members of the gay and lesbian community, you must be gay.

And if you have any self-respect, you WILL declare to be PROUD OF IT.

The G&M now has the whole document up. Interesting trends...Like the 10 point drop from December for the Conservatives...and the plateau that they show for the Cons since early July.

The only party that can truly be happy is the Bloc...

Ain't that the truth......and you can thank the f'ing Liberals for handing them increased credibility.....and the CPC for not understanding that kissing Quebec ass is a waste of time.......
