"So what? That doesn't mean it's any good. Look at all the other crap people routinely fall for."

Like Rock and Roll? Like American Idol? Like Michael Ignatieff? Like Stanley Cup Playoffs? Etc. etc.

I was thinking more of things like astrology, palmistry, talking to the dead, but yeah, I'll buy your list too.
I second that and add...

Once Mark Twain opined that if you do not read the daily papers, you're uninformed, if you read the daily papers, you're misinformed.

Fox brings a whole new meaning to that...;-)

Dexter Sinister, do you even subscribe to FNC? It is not a freebie on most TV cable or satellite providers like CNN or CBC. Typically, those who bash FNC the loudest are the one who never even saw it once, because they are CHEAP.

Heve you read the recent Ohio State University survey/study about who watches what?

It showed that the large majority of those with liberal leanings watch ONLY liberal slanted TV, read ONLY liberal slanted newspapers and do not listen to, talk radio, because there is no such thing as liberal slanted talk radio, due to the fact that whenever they tried, liberal talk radio crashed.

On the other hand, the study showed, the majority of those with conservative leanings read liberal newspapers, watch MSNBC ans CNN, in addition to the conservative news sources that they prefer.

So, if liberals want to be half-informed, that is their choice. Some on this forum are prime example. ARE YOU ONE?? We all know who they are, dismissing ANY publication that is not flamingly liberal.

With due respect to Mark Twain:

Being misinformed means that you are open minded to a different opinion.
Being uninformed means that you are ignorant and you are NOT.

And, no fault of his own, Mark Twain had no idea about television.

Wrong, he meant that print media of the time lied...plain and simple. MSM is shyte, again plain and simple. Fox is one of the worst broadcast news groups there is. They find themselves in the company of the Guardian in the UK and the National Post in Canada. The broadcast half truths and omit whole parts of stories, just to pander to their bread and butter demographic. Like all MSM does.
Being uninformed means that you are ignorant and you are NOT.
That's right, I'm not. That's because I avoid MSM like the plague.

And, no fault of his own, Mark Twain had no idea about television.
This is true, but the same principal applies to broadcast media as well as print media. Demographics are what drives their style of news. Long dead are the truly objective journalists. They buy their content now.

CDNBear, if I had been you, with such strong opinions, I would have prefaced my comment: "I watch FOXNews, and I find it "is one of the worst broadcast news groups there is".

But since you did not, you are just like all the others who bad mouth FNC, without the slightest clue what the heck they are talking about.

Would it kill journalists to cite their sources?

Yes. I think it would.
I agree, 100%, lol.

I do watch Fox News, but not to be informed YJ. I watch it for a good laugh. As I read three Toronto daily's, I watch several news sources, when I feel like it, which isn't often. I find it sometimes gives you a more balanced view of the news, but it surely isn't the news as it was when it was happening.

But since you did not, you are just like all the others who bad mouth FNC, without the slightest clue what the heck they are talking about.
Of course YJ, I'm just like everybody else...

Have you ever stopped to think that maybe you are just like evry right wing nut job? I'm not saying you are, I can hardly get a balanced view of you as a person from the net, but you have no idea what I do or where and how I get my news. That sure won't stop you from assuming that I have never watched Faux news.

Niflmir, you are being totally dishonest.

I NEVER said what you attribute as my quote: "If you disagree with me, you are an idiot". Not on this thread, not anywhere.

In other words, you are a despicable, dishonest LIAR!

CDNBear, sometimes we assume too much. In your case, I admit, I did. I believe you, when you claim that you watch FOXNews Network.

I apologize. But still can not understand why you think FNC is so bad, or why is it worse and/or less reliable than other news sources. I am not talking about OPINIONS. I readily admit that when it comes to opinions, FNC is just about as right wing as CNN or CBS or ABC or NBC or CBC are left wing.

But just giving the news, there is no reason to say that FNC is only good for a laugh.

Because I've actually seen them misquote, take out of context and chop news to suit their ideology. This isn't a myth, this is just one such fact...

They once fired Jane Akre and Steve Wilson, for refusing to include false information regarding RBGH, in the news report segment. They sued Fox under the whistle blowers act, but eventually lost because FCC is policy, not law.

Are you following me here YJ?

No.

There's no need to shout, but no, I am not one. I make a point of being very well informed and get news and information from multiple sources, Fox just isn't one of them. I don't pay much attention to U.S. news sources generally, you can't find out about much of anything except the U.S. from them. And note that I didn't bash Fox News, I have no opinion at all on it, I merely pointed out the obvious, that just because a lot of people watch it doesn't mean it's any good. Popularity is not a criterion of quality.

Of course, CNN, ABC, CBS, CBC, MSNBS never formulated news to their own version of "truth in reporting". They all do, and FOX is no different.

I never heard of this case or either or the two you mention.

"Are you following me here YJ? "

Sorry, but I lost you somewhere along the way.

CDNBear, have you ever stopped to think that I never called you a "nut job"?

Has it ever occurred to you to be polite and fair and refrain from name-calling?

I agree. Hence my contempt for all MSM.

I bet you did.

I know you haven't, I was remarking on the hypothetical, and in retort to your inference that I was like the rest of the meat heads around here that buy what their chosen news source says, without question.
Has it ever occurred to you to be polite and fair and refrain from name-calling?
Did I actually call you a name YJ? I find your indignation puzzling, especially since your a staunch supporter of 'suck it up', when it comes to descriptive stereotypes of other races...;-)

Good morning, CDNBear!

In your post #12 you implied that I was a right wing nut job and then, carefully added that you did not say I was. Clever!

In this post you imply that I am racist. If having a good laugh at stereotype jokes makes me a racist, so be it. Stereotyping is rooted in truth, whether we like it or not.
I have been "victim" of such jokes, but I laughed along with the ones who told them, because I am a grown up person, with a sense of humour and not a child who cries to mommy everytime somebody says something "offensive".

Life ain't fair and only the overly sensitive don't realize that.

Back to the topic. It doesn't reflect on your good judgement that you picked up the idiotic attempt at pun: "Faux News".
