Where do they find these numbskulls?

Hmmm....
Every time I see this kind of posturing from a US official, I ask myself," OK, what trade concession do they want now?"

Then I look around and discover that Stockwell is rightfully bitching about beef labelling in the US, an issue Canada took to the WTO and won. On April 16, 2009, Stockwell stated that the government was running out of patience with the US on this Beef trade dispute. (which is hammering the Canadian producers, so buy Canadian Beef!)

A little research and I find Pol;itano is a former governor (sp?) of Arizona, a big beef producing state and I wonder, Is Politano working for Homeland security or UCALF???

It makes me go Hmmm...

This woman is a former governor and she doesn,t know that this myth was debunked when Bush was still president????

Think of it this way, the average American hears her say this, so when they go to the meat counter at the supermarket and one steak has a sticker says "product of USA" and the one next to it says "product of Canada",which one do you think they'll choose?

Sure, the government will have to debunk this but in the meantime this false statement from an Obama official gives an edge to US producers in the marketplace.

If I'm right, she could have said "Eat US Beef.", but that would have trade connotations of protectionism. This approach gets the same effect without the push back.

No, I don't think she is dumb, and I know Obama isn't dumb, not when it comes to guiding the opinion of the American public.

Juan, we are going into a period of strained trade relations with the US as they maneuver to create preferred trade advantage for their domestic industries. There is also a new softwood tariff in the wind. The US, by their actions is revealing an alarming new strategy to create a wealth transfer from Canada to US interests.

To me, this is just a volley across the border, not an isolated shot, but part of an overall strategy.

I think we'd better be buying Canadian to support our domestic herds.

We should be buying Canadian without being told. Not just beef, but everything else that Canada produces. We should NOT be importing oil, gas, and electricity. We should be self sufficient and exporting only what we don't use, and if we have to import something, we damn well better not be exporting the same damn thing.

Yes, but our response should include quietly developing an infrastructure of domestic trade that will couple Canadian production to a Canadian distribution network. Distribution, as we experience it through the box store concept, precludes the opportunity for many Canadian manufacturers to present their products to Canadians.

A solution may be to develop a network of concerned Canadians to make this happen, and build a new domestic industry in the process.

Not much different than wood pellets from the West Coast to Amsterdam.

Have you asked whether the people in Turkey will pay the price?

Get the Koreans to ship it, they still run a tramp program.

I heard there's growing interest in believe it not Egypt for our dimensional wood products.

Check out the Canadian Export Centre.

They're opening a few new offices this year.

Yet another moron raises his head.

Arizona Senator John McCain is the latest high-profile politician to repeat the diehard American falsehood that the Sept. 11, 2001, attackers entered the United States through Canada.
Just days after Janet Napolitano, the U.S. homeland security secretary, sparked a diplomatic kerfuffle by suggesting the perpetrators took a Canadian route to the U.S. eight years ago, McCain defended her by saying that, in fact, the former Arizona governor was correct.
"Well, some of the 9/11 hijackers did come through Canada, as you know," McCain, last year's Republican presidential candidate, said on Fox News on Friday.

The 9/11 hijackers actually lived in the U.S. for a while, went to flying school for a while. Canada did not let them into the states because we have no authority to do so. Americans let them into the country. Canada had nothing to do with it. How could we?

As far as I'm concerned El Barto it hasn't yet happened. The U.S. lets in who they let in. We have tightened up our border but the responsibility for the U.S. border remains with the U.S..

well the next major event can easily happen here.
the fact the U.S. demands passports was a good move IMO
Are we doing the same? Borderwise i mean?
