I can't help but wonder why anyone would ever trust the Liberals, the Bloc, or even the NDP after what they all attempted to pull in their repeated attempts to bring down the elected government of Canada.
The Bloc essentially stood for an independent Quebec, and in the interim, they were supposed to push for great autonomy for Quebec. Instead, they worked with the Liberals, taking a promised few Cabinet posts, in order to get some degree of power. Their leadership was willing to give up every principle that it had EVER stood for, in order to gain just a smidgen of power.
The NDP has always stood for a much more "Liberal" approach than the Liberal party has. In fact, the NDP would more appropriately be considered to be a Socialist party. Yet, they too were more than willing to forgo their principles, in order to gain a few seats in the Cabinet and/or agencies of the government.
The Liberals were openly attempting to do ANYTHING, absolutely ANYTHING, to make any deal, to promise virtually anything to anyone, in order to bring down the Conservatives. They also were more than willing to give up any principle that they had ever espoused, in order to get into the Prime Ministers office.
Twice they lead attempted Coups against the party in power. The first time, they were thwarted by rules that they themselves had put into place, rules which allowed the Conservatives to prolog Parliament.
So, then they entered into a conspiracy with two parties that essentially stood for everything that the Liberals did not. Once again, they attempted to take over the government. This time however, their plans were severely punished by the electorate, who were disgusted with their antics.
Frankly, what I do NOT understand is why the NDP was so favored by so many voters. They were JUST AS GUILTY as the Liberals and the Bloc were. They attempted to thwart the will of the voters, TWICE, and they nakedly attempted to gain some tiny bit of power by hook or by crook. In the process, they abandoned their basic principles, the very reasons for their existence as a party, by making an alliance with both the Liberals and with the Bloc.
How could ANY party that claims to stand for the people of Canada make an alliance with a party who's stated goal is the destruction of Canada?
And how can the voters of Canada be so foolish as to actually support a party that would do such a thing?
