But doesn't Harry Reid and your democratic party control the Senate and its agenda ?

The magic of the US government allows them to block bills. They needed 60 votes to pass the bill and the republicans refused to support it.

Mitch decided that it would be a good idea to hold veterans hostage in order to try to impose new sanctions on Iran. Does it sound like he cares about veterans to you?

This is really not a left or right issue for me. Our vets went out when called, it behooves us to remember that and provide them the care and services they so rightly deserve. That goes for the Potus and the PM.

Goph, is Obama accountable for anything in your book or is everything the Republicans fault? This is an honest question.

You go on a case-by-case basis and do not blame him for all the sh1t that started and was worse under your hero Bush. You right wingers simply must stop blaming him for that. And don't deny that you because if you troubled yourself by going back a few years ago you right wingers here blamed Clinton for all of the problems Bush created.

Note:

For some reason whenever I try to give out Greenies tonight it just doesn't click - anybody have any idea why???

{Later} ah - it's working now.

Insurers Once on the Fence Plan to Join Health Exchanges in ’15

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/26/y...n-health-exchanges-in-15.html?ref=health&_r=1

In a sign of the growing potential under the federal health care law, several insurers that have been sitting on the sidelines say they will sell policies on the new exchanges in the coming year, and others plan to expand their offerings to more states.

“Insurers continue to see this as a good business opportunity,” said Larry Levitt, a health policy expert at the Kaiser Family Foundation. “They see it as an attractive market, with enrollment expected to ramp up in the second year.” Eight million people have signed up for coverage in 2014, and estimates put next year’s enrollment around 13 million.

It's not a tradition you know, the expended combatant is usually expended in turn, that's why

GOP Senator Calls Veteran’s Care ‘Entitlement’ We ‘Can’t Afford’

''The next time any Republican accuses President Obama or the Democrats of not supporting our veterans, please point them in the direction of Republican senator Jeff Sessions from Alabama who, along with only two other Senators – both Republican – voted against the bi-partisan veterans bill which aimed to ease the healthcare delays for veterans by giving them more access to private care and allowing the Department of Veterans Affairs the funds to open more clinics and hire more medical staff. It passed the House of Representatives unanimously.

But Sessions wasn’t feeling that bi-partisan “support the troops” facade that the GOP loves to paint:
“I feel strongly we’ve got to do the right thing for our veterans. But I don’t think we should create a blank check, an unlimited entitlement program, now.”

Republicans have a tendency to talk without first thinking of what they say and it is eventually used against them. Hopefully, he will think over these words and give it more consideration.

Veterans scandal?

Funny how so many who voted to deny veterans their rightful support are calling for more war adventurism.

There's one easy way to determine if Republicans would support the use of force in Irag. Obama should put it to a vote in the Senate. Unfortunately, Obama says he doesn't need Congressional authorization before striking Iraq.

Yeah that's why multiples of millions throughout the world protested against the USA when the Iraq war was launched:

''On 15 February 2003, a month before the invasion, there were worldwide protests against the Iraq War, including a rally of three million people in Rome, which is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest ever anti-war rally.[33] According to the French academic Dominique Reynié, between 3 January and 12 April 2003, 36 million people across the globe took part in almost 3,000 protests against the Iraq war.[34]''

Damn those Democrats for starting that war!

In all fairness to the Republicans isn't the veterans scandal mostly about hospital administrators intentionally creating delays and giving out bonuses for doing so? A bureaucracy gone a little out of control.

The current scandal is part of a much larger problem with the access of veterans to VA medical services and facilities. The overall problem stretches back quite a few years. Obama campaigned on rectifying the lack of access in his first presidential campaign in 2008. The current scandal revolves around the creation of the illusion that access had been significantly improved. Sort of like building Potemkin Villages.
