AECL has been a headache for successive federal governments and has cost Canadian taxpayers about $1.2 billion over the past several years in subsidies. It has also faced major cost overruns at key projects in recent years while struggling to find a buyer.

...SNC was the sole bidder to meet Ottawa's conditions for buying the financially troubled Crown corporation.

I suggested looking into it and hopefully that would reveal the facts. So far I don't believe or disbelieve Cliffy because I have no recollections about the transactions with Mr. Harper.

Letter: Does anybody remember the Conservative-SNC Lavalin scandal?

Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo Conservative MP Cathy McLeod said she deplores the actions of Prime Minster Justin Trudeau in the SNC-Lavalin scandal.

Is she joking?
Some of us remember the real scandal, when then-prime minister Stephen Harper agreed to sell the reactor division of the country’s billion-dollar crown corporation, Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd., to the private firm SNC-Lavalin Inc.
Canadian taxpayers weren’t guaranteed any money from that sale.
SNC-Lavalin gave the Harper government $15 million and the Harper government gave SNC-Lavalin $75 million.
Canadian taxpayers ended up paying $60 million for the privilege of no longer owning that chunk of Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd., while SNC- Lavalin got the lion’s share of the nuclear technology company’s $1.1 billion worth of assets — including land, buildings and tools.
We, on the other hand, were stuck with all of Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd.’s $4.5-billion worth of liabilities.

OH CLIFFY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU????????????????????????????

I am sure you must have caught MALARIA....................................

because you are NOW BABBLING IN DELIRIUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What Harper SOLD was a MONEY PIT full of grossly ENTITLED civil service union HOGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even worse - for Cdn tax payers is the HOGS were DEMANDING ever more heaps of gravy..............................

in return for their "efforts" to SELL OBSOLETE CDN TECHNOLOGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Cdn Candu reactors were OUT OF DATE and rather PRIMITIVE compared to the STATE OF THE ART REACTORS.................

being sold by France, Britain and United States!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those countries forged way ahead of Canada thanks to their efforts to develop nuclear power FOR SUBMARINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those climbing into a HUGE mechanized sewer pipe and planning to spend a MONTH UNDER WATER........................

mechanical reliability is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL for personal safety!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In addition silent running is also ESSENTIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This compares SHARPLY to the standard wheezing asthmatic Candu reactor operation...............................

which typically EMITS THREE HUNDRED PERCENT MORE TRITIUM than is even permitted in Europe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What Harper SOLD OFF was any further tax payer responsibility for OBSOLETE AND UNWANTED TECHNOLOGY.......................

AND he DUMPED the Candu civil service HOG CONNECTION to the costly GRAVY TRAIN AS WELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOOD RIDDANCE TO CANDU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That Candu technology was obsolete for producing electrical power cleanly and safely.............................

BUT as India proved- Candu technology WAS GOOD ENOUGH to produce FISSIONABLE MATERIAL.............................

FOR ATOMIC BOMBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In related news- our Candu HOGS TRIED AND FAILED ..............................

to build a replacement for the ANCIENT Chalk River reactor that produces one third of the medical isotopes for the planet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES - our HOGS SPENT A BILLION DOLLARS to produce a USELESS RATS NEST of rusting pipes........................

that WILL NEVER PRODUCE a single isotope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Harper FIRED the Candu head honcho for being such a wasteful ASSHAT.....................................................

While HOGS whined that Harper was BIGOTED against them..................................

while at the same time HOGS IGNORED the fact that the ENTIRE budget had been put into building the FAILED NEW REACTOR.....

and the Chalk River reactor WAS LEFT TO ROT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hence that sudden world wide SHORTAGE of medical isotopes as Chalk River faded off line...........................

until HOGS made a mad rush to put the RELIC back together again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Chalk River reactor dates from WW2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chalk River dates from the days of the Manhattan Project - to produce the worlds FIRST atomic bomb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is THAT ANCIENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Chalk Rover reactor is the most sophisticated technology Candu CLODS can handle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which is why the Ontari-owe Bruce Nuclear power station is has RETIRED French, British and Yankee submariners......................

in KEY POSITIONS to oversee Cdn Candu CLODS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And it was LIE-berals who recognized that Candu Clods could NO LONGER be trusted..........................................

to operate Ontari-owe nuclear reactors on their own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Harper, while far from perfect took hits for a lot of shit he probably shouldn't have. With Harper it was less talk and a little more action compared to the present incumbent. It was more business and less "showboat". We really need him back! Are we grasping at straws hoping for much improvement from Andrew Scheer? I really hope not, just keeping my fingers crossed.

Scheer will likely be another in a long list of globalists I'm afraid.

I'm wondering if that would be such a bad thing. With the world getting smaller, shouldn't interaction with more of it be encouraged. With the current trend of acceptance of all races, colours and creeds, that would seem to me to be a natural progression. Sort of fits in with "United we Stand, divided we fall" No? I think Trump is slowly learning that isolation just isn't going to work over the long haul.

Yeah...................I BET you are afraid of a lot of things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and not just suffering from fear of Scheer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just DO NOT COUNT on LIE-berals to help with your PHOBIAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or with anything else either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LIE-berals all SINCERELY BELIEVE that WE ALL EXIST....................................

to SERVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back when Doug Ford was elected I suggested that Ford could spend the next FOUR YEARS.......................

HIDING IN HIS OFFICE and never coming out or doing anything..............................

and he would still be judged AS A BETTER PREMIER THAN LIE-beral Wynne-bag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And some kid asked me to name ONE THING that Ford has done for him.........................

so I pointed out that FORD HAS STOPPED DIGGING YOU INTO DEBT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After a long silence the kid nodded.......................

oh yeah..................................that would help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andrew Scheer is in the same boat as Ford!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scheer can go to the PM`s office and spend the next FOUR YEARS PLAYING VIDEO GAMES..........................

and he will BE A SUPERIOR PM and BETTER than Our idiot Boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If he is locked in his office then he AINT flying around the country scattering cash and insulting our intelligence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The way the idiot Boy does!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We must Get RID of Our idiot Boy BEFORE he bankrupts us all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just LOOK at the amount of gunfire and crime occurring NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How much WORSE WILL IT GET...................................

if we hit the debt wall and are forced into bankruptcy like the Greeks and Venezuelans??????????????????????

And the welfare payments and govt give aways and HOG GRAVY payments...............................

ARE SLASHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SAINT-GEORGES, Que. — Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer has written to the government’s top bureaucrat to ask him keep a list of any requests he gets to delete records — suggesting that a defeated Liberal government might illegally try to destroy documents related to the SNC-Lavalin affair.

Scheer is reminding the clerk of the Privy Council that all records related to SNC-Lavalin, like other government documents, must be preserved. Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau has been accused of improperly pressuring former attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould to head off a criminal prosecution of the Quebec engineering giant.

A copy of the letter was obtained by The Canadian Press. The Privy Council Office confirmed it has been received and said “it is being given the appropriate consideration.”

The letter begins with a lengthy preamble laying out the Conservatives’ view of the affair and says that if Scheer forms government, he intends to launch a judicial inquiry into the matter and it will need access to all the records that exist. It reminds the clerk, longtime public servant Ian Shugart, that destroying records “in contemplation of an official judicial proceeding” is a crime. The Conservatives sent a similar letter to the clerk’s office earlier this year. This new letter seeks to connect Justin Trudeau to Dalton McGuinty, the former Liberal premier of Ontario, whose last chief of staff served a month in jail for attempting to wipe records as McGuinty was leaving office.

Canada’s bureaucrats are responsible for ensuring all government records are properly preserved. Those include materials classified as cabinet confidences, which are kept but not passed on to new governing parties.

The list of records Scheer is requesting be stored could be kept under those restrictions — which include a provision that they not be made public for 20 years.

What exactly constitutes a confidence is a lingering question in the SNC-Lavalin matter. Both the ethics commissioner’s determination that Trudeau improperly pressured his former attorney general to intervene in a decision to prosecute the company, and the RCMP’s subsequent attempts to look into it, have been constrained by cabinet secrecy.

The Conservatives have promised to introduce a law that would grant the RCMP access to materials protected by cabinet confidence with court approval, but whether those could in turn be made public is unclear.

From: http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/election-snc-lavalin-campaign-1.5280298

According to the Globe, the RCMP has not launched an official investigation and it will suspend its initial inquiries into the matter until after the federal election.

But the RCMP's view has now been raised as an unresolved matter and, crucially, that is something that won't be definitively resolved until sometime after October 21.

From: http://edmonton.citynews.ca/2019/09/26/scheer-snc-lavalin-inquiry-trudeau-environment/

The Conservative leader has repeatedly raised the SNC-Lavalin affair during the course of his election campaign.

Scheer also committed to introduce legislation that would let the RCMP ask the Supreme Court of Canada for access to information protected by cabinet confidence.

We would pass the ‘No More Cover Ups’ act, to prevent corrupt politicians, like Justin Trudeau, from hiding behind cabinet confidentiality to escape police investigation,” he said. “Cabinet confidentiality exists to protect sensitive matters of policy in order to create good policy. It doesn’t exist to protect corrupt leaders.”

I was living in Ottawa briefly when the Turner government fell and the Tories took power under Mulroney.

An Ottawa office supply company put a witty full page add in the Citizen for paper shedders with the caption:"Leaving town in a hurry?"

We're back in an interesting time with respect to this issue now:

If a Probe on the SNC Lavalin fiasco was called again tomorrow or relatively soon, the Justice Committee could be a Justice Committee instead of a Justin Committee with it being proportional by seat counts. Wilson-Raybould would even be handy as the only Independent Sitting MP. The question would come down to the integrity of the Bloc MP's on a new & hopefully real Justice Committee.

The Bloc won’t want to go into corruption of a Quebec company .

Maybe....maybe not. It comes back to integrity and a visually exposed example of that integrity. The Bloc picked up these seats in this election by not being the Liberals or the NDP.

Yep. From the NDP & Libs. The posts above are in response my statement 1195 thus:

I hate to say it, but the only Liberal seat I was following two days ago was Regina/Wascana that I reside in. It 'was' held by Ralph Goodale.

So the Bloc picked up all those seats two days ago from the Greens & the PPC & the Conservatives? Is that what you're saying?
you said the bloc picked up the seats by not being liberals.

they are not the only non liberals
