White House, Chinese negotiators reach trade deal in principle that would dramatically scale back import tariffs
As part of the partial trade pact, the White House would not impose tariffs on $160 billion in Chinese imports on Sunday, people briefed on the talks said. And China agreed to major purchases of U.S. farm products, improved intellectual property safeguards and financial services market openings. White House officials are still waiting for President Trump to formally sign off on the deal.
