The Muslim Council of Britain said in a statement: "This is a truly barbaric act that has no basis in Islam and we condemn this unreservedly. Our thoughts are with the victim and his family."

Yet on an even rarer occasion when a Christian kills in the name of his religion there is no such attempt at separating what he did from Christianity.

A perfect example of this was Anders Breivik. When he committed his terrorist attack people loved to condemn him as a "Far Right Christian fundamentalist nutcase".

Yet yesterday, when two Muslim men were hacking at people with knives and meat cleavers on a London street, we have people appearing on the news stations such as BBC News and Sky News trying to separate what they did from Islam. They have been saying things like: "They are just a couple of nutcases who happen to be Muslims"; or "This act has no basis in Islam"; and "We should remember that most Muslims will be absolute shocked by this barbaric act".

So Anders Breivik was a "Far Right Christian fundamentalist nutjob" yet these two Muslim nutjobs are "Just a couple of nutjobs who just happen to be Muslim but what they did has no basis in Islam".

Qur'an:9:5 "Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them,

Qur'an:9:112 "The Believers fight in Allah's Cause, they slay and are slain, kill and are killed."

Qur'an:9:29 "Fight those who do not believe until they all surrender, paying the protective tax in submission."

Ishaq:325 "Muslims, fight in Allah's Cause. Stand firm and you will prosper. Help the Prophet, obey him, give him your allegiance, and your religion will be victorious."

Qur'an:8:39 "Fight them until all opposition ends and all submit to Allah."

Qur'an:8:39 "So fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief [non-Muslims]) and all submit to the religion of Allah alone (in the whole world)."

Ishaq:324 "He said, 'Fight them so that there is no more rebellion, and religion, all of it, is for Allah only. Allah must have no rivals.'"

Qur'an:9:14 "Fight them and Allah will punish them by your hands, lay them low, and cover them with shame. He will help you over them."

Ishaq:300 "I am fighting in Allah's service. This is piety and a good deed. In Allah's war I do not fear as others should. For this fighting is righteous, true, and good."

Ishaq:587 "Our onslaught will not be a weak faltering affair. We shall fight as long as we live. We will fight until you turn to Islam, humbly seeking refuge. We will fight not caring whom we meet. We will fight whether we destroy ancient holdings or newly gotten gains. We have mutilated every opponent. We have driven them violently before us at the command of Allah and Islam. We will fight until our religion is established. And we will plunder them, for they must suffer disgrace."

Qur'an:8:65 "O Prophet, urge the faithful to fight. If there are twenty among you with determination they will vanquish two hundred; if there are a hundred then they will slaughter a thousand unbelievers, for the infidels are a people devoid of understanding."

One of the two murderers has been named as 28-year-old Michael Adebolajo. He's the whacko who is seen in the footage with the bloody hands and carrying bloody weapons. Despite the fact that he says, in the video, (which was filmed by a brave member of the public) 'I apologise that women had to witness this today, but in our land our women have to see the same' he is a native Londoner. He was born in the London Borough of Lambeth, in south London, to a devout Christian family.

At the age of 15 or 16 he started getting involved in Islam and started to speak about Jihadi ideas.

He joined several extremist groups - including Al Muhajiroun - that were banned in Britain and in 2003 converted to Islam, calling himself Mujaheed while at Marshalls Park School.

Fearing he had become radicalised, his parents moved him away from Romford, north east London, to a village in Lincolnshire.

A former friend told the Evening Standard that he was a Christian.

The friend said: 'He started getting involved with Islam aged about 15 or 16, and that is why his parents moved him away out of the area. It is utterly shocking to see what he has done. It’s unbelievable.'

The security services, including MI5, were aware of him and his accomplice, who has not been named but is believed to be from Harold Hill, close to Romford in north east London.

Both are still alive and are recovering at hospital. One is at King's College Hospital in the London Borough of Southwark, south London. One is in a serious condition.

It has also been confirmed that the man who was killed WAS a serving British soldier. At 2.20pm yesterday afternoon he was was walking back to the Woolwich Barracks wearing a Help for Heroes t-shirt when crazed Adebolajo and his accomplice, who were in a Vauxhall Tigra, mounted the pavement and ran him over, crushing his body against a road sign.

Witnesses said the terror suspects then 'hacked and chopped' at his body like 'crazed animals', before dragging his corpse into the middle of the road leaving a trail of blood.

As they apparently tried to decapitate him they were chanting 'Allah Akbar!’ – an Islamic phrase meaning ‘God is great’ - and yelling 'this is what God would have wanted'.

Crazed: 28-year-old Londoner Michael Adebolajo

A blood-soaked Adebolajo, who was still holding a number of weapons in his red-stained hands, then ranted on camera (above) in a clear London accent saying: 'You people will never be safe' before telling a passer-by they had not fled because they were waiting to 'shoot the police'.

Within minutes armed officers arrived and the fundamentalists charged at them wielding firearms, knives and a machete.

Police opened fire, shooting six bullets, leaving one seriously injured. The pair remain under armed guard in two separate London hospitals.

The Metropolitan Police today defended their response to the killing after eyewitnesses claimed they took up to 20 minutes to arrive at the scene.

Assistant Commissioner Simon Byrne, said: 'One point I would like to address is around some of the speculation as to how long it took the Met to respond yesterday as this incident started to unfold.

'We first received a 999 call from the public at 2.20pm stating a man was being attacked, further 999 calls stated that the attackers were in possession of a gun. We had officers at the scene within nine minutes of receiving that first 999 call.

'Once that information about a gun or guns being present was known firearms officers were assigned at 2.24pm. Firearms officers were there and dealing with the incident 10 minutes after they were assigned, 14 minutes after the first call to the Met.'

It has also been confirmed that police have raided two properties, one in Lincolnshire and one in Romford in north east London.

Officers raided the detached property in Lincolnshire early this morning just hours after the unidentified victim was hacked to death with meat cleavers as dozens of witnesses watched.

Neighbours said the same family had lived in the house in Lincolnshire for about a decade

A second search in the early hours of this morning concentrated on a house believed to belong to a woman related to Adebolajo in Romford.

Detectives and forensic officers were examining the top floor flat belonging to Blessing Daniels. They were seen taking plastic boxes into the block. Other officers sat in a white transit van outside the estate.

At 5.30am there was also a raid on a property in Greenwich, south east London, not far from Woolwich, where witnesses said four people - two sisters in their 30s, an older woman and a teenage boy - were all taken away in a Scotland Yard van.

It is understood the men, who are being treated in separate hospitals while under arrest, are most likely to be British citizens of Nigerian descent who have converted to a radical form of Islam.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson today visited the scene of the attack and told the press that justice will be applied swiftly to the two terrorists.

Boris Johnson this morning entered the security cordon at the scene in Woolwich

Last night Newsnight correspondent Richard Watson said: ‘I received a very interesting phone call from a source who knows the British jihadi scene very well and [he] said that one of the attackers was Nigerian in origin, has been living in the UK for many years, [and] was radicalised by the Islamist group Al Muhajiroun [a banned extremist group] in 2003.

'He suggested to me that just last year this young man was stopped or arrested ... on his way to join Al Shabaab in Somalia.'

A woman lays flowers outside the Royal Military Barracks where it is believed the soldier was stationed

David Cameron today said: 'We will defeat violent extremism by standing together, by backing our police and security services and above all by challenging the poisonous narrative of extremism on which this violence feeds.

Speaking about the courageous actions of Mrs Loyau-Kennett who spoke to the killers after the attack added: 'When told by the attacker he wanted to start a war in London she replied "you are going to lose. It’s only you versus many." She speaks for us all.'

David Cameron today praised the actions of Ingrid Loyau-Kennett for standing up to the alleged killers

Adebolajo's accomplice was seen talking to 48-year-old Ingrid Loyau-Kennett as she calmed the men down to keep the peace. When told by the attacker he wanted to start a war in London she replied "You are going to lose. It’s only you versus many."

Soldiers were initially told not to wear uniforms outside the barracks, but Cobra decided this would not be the right response to the attack

Last night the crime scene remained swarming with police and forensic teams who illuminated the road with spotlights as they examined evidence under large tents.

As they worked, more than 100 members of the English Defence League (EDL) - who protest against Islamofascism - gathered around the scene, with many draped in St George’s flags and wearing black balaclavas.

Riot police holding shields formed a cordon around the area as the EDL members waved flags and chanted 'no surrender to the Muslim scum', ‘Rule Britannia’ and ‘England’.

Leader Tommy Robinson addressed the crowd, saying: 'We have got weak leadership. They have allowed this to happen. People are scared to say the word Muslim. They are scared to offend them.

‘You know what? We are offended. People in this country are angry. They have had enough.’

They threw bottles at police before being dispersed by officers by 11pm.

A number of EDL supporters then headed to the local Queen’s Arms pub where they sang nationalistic songs.

There were tense scenes last night as members of the EDL converged on Woolwich

The demographics of the western world is mainly made up of Christians, why would they have to "separate" themselves from any crime another Christian makes? No one is going around committing hate crimes against Christians. Muslims however are an minority, and one that is consistently demonized, and it's almost necessary to remind bigots and morons that this type of violence isn't inherent in their religion.

That's nice to see NOW!!!

It's been a long time coming, but now the Muslim community are condemning these horrific acts.. that are claimed to be done in the name is Islam.

I give full credit to the people in this video, that was very brave of them to do this..

I mean of course this act is not done in the name of a religion.. the two individuals are sick.. mentally sick. So they should have shot them and let them bleed out of the streets.. no medical aid.

They act like mad dogs, and should be put down accordingly.

Yeah, but they know while he's Christian, he's not representative of all Christianity. He's labeled 'fringe'. That's the big difference with these terror attacks, they're not labeled 'fringe', they're held up as shining examples of the entirety of Islam, so I don't blame Muslims one bit for saying 'that's not us.'

Muslims almost always commit terror in the name of Islam, but Christians very seldom commit horrific acts in the name of Christianity!!

Considering the number of Christians in the west and the number of crimes they commit in the name of their religion vs the number of Muslims committing religious crimes in the west, in the name of Islam, one can clearly see that Muslims are clearly a very violent group.

For further information to support this statement, a recent survey of people in Canadian prisons showed that Muslims are the highest religious group in our prisons on a per capita basis!!

Gotta ask for some links to back that up Durry.

Of course. Now you can try to find fault with the data!!

Non-Christian prison chaplains chopped by Ottawa - British Columbia - CBC News

You can see from the data below, that Christians make up less than 1% of their population (75% Christians in Canada)
First Nations make up about 1% of their pop( about 5% of Canada is first native)
There are about 1% of Canadians are Muslims, yet they make up 4.5 times their per capita population in our prisons!!

GOT THE FACTS NOW KARRIE????

-------
57% of inmates Christian
There were nearly 23,000 inmates in federal custody in 2011 and a large majority of them identified themselves as Christian:

37.5% are Catholic.
19.5% are Protestant.
4.5% are Muslim.
4% First Nations spirituality
2% are Buddhist.
fewer than 1% are Jewish.
fewer than 1% are Sikh.

I am assuming that you can count past such a high number.

So next time try to get it right.

The Daily — 2011 National Household Survey: Immigration, place of birth, citizenship, ethnic origin, visible minorities, language and religion

Religions in Canada

The NHS collected information on religious affiliation, regardless of whether respondents practised their religion.

The largest faith in Canada was Christianity. About 22,102,700, or two-thirds of Canada's population (67.3%), reported that they were affiliated with a Christian religion.

Roman Catholics were the largest Christian religious group in 2011. About 12,728,900 people identified themselves as Roman Catholic, representing 38.7% of Canada's population as a whole.

Consistent with changing immigration patterns, there were growing proportions of the population who reported religious affiliations other than Christian. These religions included Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and Buddhist. In 2011, about 2,373,700 people, or 7.2% of Canada's population, reported affiliation with one of these religions. This was up from 4.9% a decade earlier, as recorded in the 2001 Census.

In 2011, people who identified themselves as Muslim made up 3.2% of the population, Hindu 1.5%, Sikh 1.4%, Buddhist 1.1% and Jewish 1.0%.

Roughly 7,850,600 people, or nearly one-quarter of Canada's population (23.9%), had no religious affiliation. This was up from 16.5% a decade earlier, as recorded in the 2001 Census.
