Singer Claims Black Eyed Peas Ripped Off Her Song
Did the Black Eyed Peas rip off someone else's music when they recorded their international hit "Boom Boom Pow"?
Singer Ebony Batts says they did.
"I was like, that's my song. Oh my God!" says Batts of hearing the song for the first time.
Batts, who performs as Phoenix Phenom, says Fergie and the rest of the Black Eyed Peas stole the song "Boom Dynamite," which she recorded and made a music video for in 2007.
Early in 2008, Batts says, she and her co-writer, producer Manny Mohr, submitted "Boom Dynamite" to the Black Eyed Peas' record label.
About a year later, the Black Eyed Peas released "Boom Boom Pow" and Batts says she was stunned by how alike the two songs are.
"I felt like someone stole from me, I felt cheated," she tells INSIDE EDITION.
"It's very obvious to most people," Mohr says.
"The beats are virtually identical in ways that can not be explained by coincidence," says Fra Gould, Batts's attorney.
Batts and Mohr's claims are contained in a lawsuit they are bringing against the group.
Ebony's message to the superstar band? "This is wrong."

I saw them live in Vancouver recently with U2. I enjoyed their show. But if they ripped someone off, they should pay up.
