I comment on lots of things I'm not involved in, that's not a reason not to say anything, these things are embedded in the culture I live in and they do affect me, at least peripherally. And sure I'd comment in a thread about menstruation if I felt like it. Reasons may not be apparent to you, but I don't need to justify myself to you or anyone else, this is a public forum where anyone's free to comment on anything, subject to certain rules. Which I helped to write many moons ago.

I don't participate in lent. Even as a child, going to catholic school I didn't obey the rule, as
I was suppose to.

My parents didn't make me, they didn't do it, and all was well.

However it is a way to put some discipline on oneself if you so desire and feel you are better off
for it, and if lent is a way to do that, then so be it, no harm done, something gained.
