Damned right it is fatigue.......fatigue with the endless whining coming from Quebec about seperation. Marois's brand of separatism is slightly different in that she wants to separate, but she wants to keep all the good things that Canada provides. She says there would be no borders, no tolls, no tarriffs, etc. I say BULL-HIT! Rupert's Land was given to Quebec for joining confederation and would have to be given back. Native land does no belong to Quebec and would not be included in any separation. It is high time we stopped pi--ing around withe the stupid separatists. In any case, there can be no separation without agreement from the rest of Canada. Enough already!

And don't let them get away without first paying about $150 billion of National debt and make sure they leave all Canadian currency behind.

There's one sure way to make them piss or get off the pot................. have a reverse referendum, as of March 31, they are gone unless a majority goes to the polls to vote against it. Then you'll see some scurrying!

We are almost at the point where the majority dont vote at all across Canada. Apathetic people seem to have the plurality most of the time.

"If Quebec should decide to hold a referendum and the Quebecois vote for leaving Canada, the fun starts.

1. Aboriginals will refuse to give up their traditional territory.
2. The St. Lawrence Seaway is jointly owned by Canada and the United States; Quebec has no claim to the lands set aside for the Seaway.
3. Montreal is an island in the St. Lawrence and may not be part of a new Quebec.
4. All federal facilities (and English speaking employees) in Quebec would have to relocate.
5. Air Canada could not continue maintenance operations in a foreign nation.
6. The Port of Montreal would wither as Canadian companies would have to find an Canadian location for imports and exports.
7. Airlines would cease landing in Quebec until they could negotiate landing rights with the new nation.
8. The Canada Space Agency could move from Saint-Hubert to Calgary.
9. Federally licensed financial institutions (all banks, for example) could no longer operate in Quebec.
10. Bilingual courts and a bilingual federal civil service would be history.
11. The Official Languages Act would be history.
12. Thousands of translators we pay for would out of work.
13. We would have 78 fewer Members of Parliament to pay for.
14. We would have 24 fewer Senators to pay for.
15. The NDP would lose 57 seats including Mulcair’s;
16. The Liberal would lose 8 seats including Trudeau’s.
17. The Conservative party’s majority would increase from 52% to 67%.
18. We would save about $20 billion annually in federal transfer payments - which could be used to pay down the federal debt.
19. We could save another $543 million in funds currently earmarked for bridges over the St. Lawrence and in and out of Montreal.
20. We would no longer support Bombardier.
21. All military aircraft work contracted by Canada would have to leave Quebec.
22. Goodbye to the CBC French language networks."

3, 15 and 16 dont really go together. If Montreal stays so do the ridings of Mulcair and Trudeau.

Also Quebec isnt the only part of the country with a large french speaking population. Northern ONtario, New Brunswick and parts of Manitoba still have large french speaking populations. French is almost used as much as English in Northern Ontario , or at least the couple towns I grew up in. There would certainly be enough to maintain some french programming and keep a fair number of translators in business.

So March 31 might not be enough time!

What bloody nonsense, Rex is not controlled by anyone he pretty much says what's on his mind.
As for Separatism he's right the masses are not clamoring at the gate, most people are not in
favor of leaving as dysfunctional as we are.
Some people see a conspiracy under every unlit lamppost like some nineteen fifties spy movie.
I know a lot of news people who do and report what is happening. It's not propaganda either,
Most people want work, they want education for their kids, they don't want government interfering
with medicare or pensions and so on. Some are foolish enough to think we would be better as
little nations and when that happened economically we would be in a full depression.

Absolutely right. Rex Murphy does say what he thinks. While I don't agree with everything he says, he comes off better than
most. Murphy is a Rhodes Scholar and that sets him above a lot of people I know. and probably all polititians.
