Is she an Annie Oakley wannabe?

No. She is a sweet, intelligent, lovely lady........but I can count the number of times she has fired a firearm on one hand........she is, however, a realist with some understanding of how the world, and nature, works. So she has no problem with hunting. Or my arsenal.

She loves to walk in the woods, especially in the fall.....sometimes comes along on grouse hunts with me.....she just doesn't carry a gun. Will not enter the woods with me in deer season, doesn't want to see that.

I have no idea why she has put up with me for almost 40 years in total.......

They are wild here......and why would I pay for 20 ga or .410 shells when 12 ga is sooooo cheap???
Good point if you buy new stuff all the time. :D We get reloads. It's cheaper to get friends to reload than buy new stuff.

If you don't kill, or have somebody do it on your behalf, you don't eat.

If you had been following the debate, I have been referring to one member of our forum who kills coyotes just for the sake of killing. I doubt he eats them.

But to shoot your argument to bits, it IS possible to survive without eating meat. Ever hear of vegetarians?

Hmmm....I used to reload handgun and rifle ammo........

Never bothered with shotgun. I rarely hunt anything but grouse with shotgun, and I bought a couple hundred rounds of Canadian Tire 7 1/2s a few years ago......$3.49 for 20. I don't think you can load it for much less than 20 cents a round...... Then I inherited my Dad's old ammo stock.....some of it cardboard!!!!!

Lots and lots and lots of ammo.... :)

Most meat eaters eat vegetarians (and omnivores). I don't mind hunting for the larder but killing for sport or trophy hunting I am adamantly opposed. For decades I have advocated open season on trophy hunters as they kill off the healthy breading stock and we end up with sickly herds and the need for lots of predators to thin out the unhealthy stock.

I'll have you know I have NEVER eaten a vegetarian nor an omnivore!!!!!

I'm not talking about shooting bears in dumps, but was referring to the bait bear hunters use, as a pile of garbage.

Perhaps people who intend to mingle with nature should learn how to protect themselves and behave in various situations.

Like I said earlier: respect nature, don't destroy it.

Anyone that requires bait to get a bear isn't much of a hunter. Like using CIL spinners to catch a fish.
We sometimes have to shoot garbage bears in camps. Less so now that all camps have garbage burners. Farmers usually have to remove a bear or two every year.

Cows, deer, moose, elk - vegetarians
Pigs, chickens, bear - omnivore

Actually, a vegetarian is a human with a certain belief system.....an animal that only eats plant matter is a herbivore....

I know, I know....splitting hairs.....but therein lies the joke.

And, on second thought, I lied.....I have eaten omnivores. In fact, I have eaten 6 of the seven you listed.....anyone wanna send me an elk steak????.

And if you'd been following the debate properly you'd know that's not why Colpy shoots coyotes. You said you don't like killers, you didn't put any qualifiers on it. You think eating plants doesn't kill them? For any creature to eat, something has to die.

His reason for shooting coyotes is BS.

Yes, eating plants does kill them, but they have no feelings, mind, etc. etc. Thay is a stupid comment and you know it.

Actually, if you read "the Secret Life of Plants" you might change your mind. They do have "feelings" that can be measured but not by our senses.

Actually one has to kill plants in order to eat them, too. Bugs get killed all the time, people get killed all the time, etc. Death is a fact of life. :)

Last time we priced it it was about $2.80 for a box of 25. I don't think I've ever seen boxes of 20 before. Who makes those? Anyway, the equipment is available and the materials are cheap. Why waste good brass and stuff?
The rifle and sidearm ammo is also reloaded for us. Pays to have friends and swap favors now and then. :)
