I was able to watch only the first half of Little Mosque on the Prairie. I couldn't stand any more. It was just way over the top, trying far too hard not to take itself too seriously. Too many stereotyped situations and people caricatured in ways that failed to amuse me. The mayor in particular came off as a comic book caricature of a politician, and there's an obvious generation-gap conflict being set up across three generations. That's such an old stereotype, unless it's very delicately and intelligently handled it'll just fall flat.
I'd like to like it, really, the premise is promising, and I'd agree it's not fair to judge it on one episode. It'll take time for the writers and actors to settle into their roles and develop the characters, so I'll keep an eye on it for a while and hope it gets better. But I was pretty disappointed with that first episode.
