Proud to be in Alberta
Right Wing: Believes that the government has a very small role in their day to day lives. Does not think that the government need to influence how they think. Does believe in individual intiative and individual responsibility. Does believe in lower tax rates, which allows the individual to spend their money as they see fit. Does believe that the state has no role in affairs such as marriage, daycare, etc.

Left Wing: Believe that the government has a very active role in their day to day lives. Believes that the government needs to provide policies that influence how people think and act. Believes that government policies are better than policies from individuals. Believes that government officials can and should develop policies which abrogate individual initiatives. Does not believe in lower tax rates, as taxes can and should be used to develop and encourage social initiatives. Believes that the state has a huge role in enforcing social initiatives such as marriage, daycare, etc.

Simply put, right wing means less government, less taxes, more personal responsibility, while left wing means government knows what is best, and discourages personal responsibility in favor of letting the government take over your life.

I am right wing.

Right Wing propaganda of course says that. Actually communists (Orthadox) at least believe in no government at all. They believe a point to which society evolves to where the government disappears completely and thus each communist (orathadox at least) believes in no government interferance.

As for the right wing, the history of the right wing even today has a extremly pervaous government, look at the USA today. God you guys don't have less government you have more. How many new government agencies have come around since the Bush admin took over! How much more if the government spying on it's own people? The Military has both increased and the civil service. Government spending has increased and the only thing to decrease are the two service I think the government should have a large roll in, both education and health!

Please show me one modern capitalist right Wing country which hasn't had a large government!

please, don't give me this right wing propaganda. I hear enough from the left.

Less government? Most right wing governments are bigger, generate more deficits.

No Influence on what people think. Ha. You mean like wanting to change constitution to stop gay people from getting married. Or Faith based initaves. etc. There is also strong authoritarian streak in most right wing governments.

Left wing governments tend to be the ones who let all people lead thier lives, right wing are the ones who insist that people live their personal lives a certain way and try to make laws governing peoples "moral" behavior.

On the economic front the difference is welfare. Left wing governments believe in a welfare system to protect the most vulnerable people. Right wing governments believe in corporate welfare.

Right wing governments protect corporated rights, left wing goverments protect individual rights.

Whatever the ideals the real practical difference on one side you have Corporations/Military and on the other Citizens/Consumers/environment.

Right wing governments will create the balance of laws that favor corporations over people/environment, left wing the opposite. That is the biggest difference.
