So I see your selfesh needs take precedence over those needs of other children ... that is too bad.

Tell me how feeding an infant whenever, and wherever they may be hungry is being selfish, you feckin' prude...

It will cause pyschological harm to kids not comfortable with these issues, that's how.

Care to provide some substantive evidence for this outlandish claim?

Here is an exerpt from an article on possible harm to kids exposed to breast feeding ...

Beneficial or Harmful ? Is a Decision Mother Must Make

The object of this paper is to write a newspaper like article about the pros and cons of breastfeeding after a year. Breastfeeding in the United States is a choice that many mothers make. There is no set age that a baby should be weaned. The benefits of breastfeeding must be weighed against the psychological harm that a child may experience if the mother continues to breastfeed after age two.

While the family tries to heal, the real crime is going entirely ignored. It is a sad statement of our new civilization when a photo store clerk, two police detectives, a CPS supervisor, and an entire grand jury have all forgotten how babies are fed, and are unable to appreciate the treasury of capturing the tender fleeting moments of childhood on film.

You know that the article you posted was extremely critical of your line of thinking, right...

That was to show that many folks are extremely protective of their kids (as they should be) and will shield them from issues they feel their kids might not accept.

Try again...this article deals with the child that is being breastfed sustaining psychological damage if he/she is not weaned after two years of age...it says nothing of psychological damage to any child that might witness the feedings...

You're not very good at this are you James?

I think it more to it than that. Being in a conservative town of Tulsa, its probably something to do with the sexual aspect of breasts. I think some "christians" view breast feeding in public, like its some sort of perversion (sex is dirty attitude, "you will go blind if you masterbate, type of thinking"), which it is not.

Were you breastfed after the age of two, James? That might explain some things, at least accordin to the article you linked to.

i know i'm probably gonna be alone on this, but i am personally bothered when i'm enjoying a meal at my favourite restaurant and someone at the table near me starts breastfeeding.

not while i eat, damnit.

Alright fubbleskag, this is not an attack on you :D , but I did pick on your quote

As a mother at 17 who chose to breast feed, i was also one who would refuse to let my child starve for the purpose of placating others. It's not like I would flop it out on the table and dish my boob out with a fork and knife, you would have to stare at me to actually pick up on what I was doing. One lady did when I was out with my parents,I had a "snuggli" built for breastfeeding that it was very discreet. Unless you were staring in the side looking for skin, or noticed a wrinkle in my shirt, you couldn't see. Until this lady spoke, my family at the table hadn't even known. She commented quite meanly that I should be doing it out of the public. My Retort?

" First off, I don't know where you think you have the right to stare at my chest and interrrupt my and my family's meal. Secondly Ma'am, Do you eat your lunch in the bathroom?

Pardon Me? She asked

Do you eat your lunch in the bathroom?

Well no, she said

So then tell me why the F*ck should he (meaning my son) he is a person and just as entitled as you.

She was encouraged to leave by the managment, and this was 9 years ago when it was still not imperative that you allow nursing in public

Just because you don't like the meal being served, doesn't mean that you can berate. It's like bitching at someone that you don't want them to eat an entree that you find disgusting. These infants are people too.

If you don't like watching, stop staring.

And think of it from the pragmatic point of view, wouldn't you rather have a happy baby nursing, than a hungry baby wailing? An no, the mother should not have to leave her meal to feed the child so that some will not be offended, when nursing, it's more important that she eat than anyone that may be offended.

That's my opinion....and if you don't like it...tough titty

The issue and priority here is the well being of the infant that needs feeding, no matter where the infant may be. Due to whatever reason (which I won't discuss here), the infant may not always be in the comfort of his or her home.

However, it is surely something that should be avoided if possible or temporarily postponed if children are around at the time. At least till able to seclude an area away from kids. This is not something for young children to see.

So you would rather see an infant scream from hunger? F*uck that...what kind of idiodicy is that...postponed? It's not a gawd damned phonecall. Most children are aware of breastfeeding, and many have been fed that way themselves, it is also one of the best bonding times between mother and child. It's a feeding, not a porno. Man...get a clue

RE: How much are you comfortable in breastfeeding your baby

Breast feeding would seem to me to be a far more natural thing to do than sitting at a table to eat a meal. What came first: Breastfeeding or the three course meal at your favourite diner?

I think the people who have a problem with it should eat there food in the toilets and let the mothers feed their children at the table.

Else they should pull their antiquated heads out of their arses and mind their own bloody business.

 Don't be a dumbass.

How is it selfish when your whole community doesn't care, and neither do the children. Your Ignorance is mistaking Selfishness with something Completely different. It's like considering Nude paintings as *Gasp* pornography!!! Not like breeding repression into your kids...Way to go! AGIAN it depends where you are. My experiences is that when it's treated as no big thing... it's no big thing. Wherever you may be sounds so open and worldly.

Burkah's anyone?

You are incorrect in that all children are comfortable with issues of this nature. They surely are not, and it is not worth the risk of breast feeding in front of kids you do not know.

The only kids who are NOT comfortable with issues of this nature are....those who are taught to be that way by their parents.

I'm glad to see that you are furthering a stereotype, "Nascar_James".

Hell, considering the price of milk, people should breast feed untill they are 30.
