The Russians living and working in Ukraine are Soviets placed their to work industry. There isn't a Soviet Union anymore. They can go back to where they came from.

Make no mistake we could avoid any fight and save on fancy shmancy planes if we had better leadership.

Yeah..........we could simply surrender our sovereignty over the North, or just become a Russian satellite while Justin searches for the "root causes" of our loss.

Oh!! What am I saying??

Justin LOVES murdering Communist dictators, just like his Daddy.

No need to search for root causes.

Do you realize that defending the territorial integrity of the nation is the FIRST duty of the state??

**** you people are IDIOTS!!!! And that is an insult to most idiots.

READ SOME HISTORY IF YOU CAN ****ING READ.

Jesus H Christ.

Canada extends from a point 200 miles off Newfoundland to theNorth pole on the East and follows the line up the Ukon -Alaska border. Everythin inside that triangle is indisputably CANADA.

Putin is just testing to see how good our resolve is to defend our teritory. Make no mistake if we do not exercise our authority in the Arctic there will be Russian flags flying this side of the North Pole. This is why we need a strong military since we can not depend on the US to babysit us.

While mostly true, it's not so much to test our resolve, but has more to do with spreading our military thin, distracting our focus elsewhere other than Ukraine, reducing our resources given to Ukraine to cover what we need and as mentioned in the report, to cost us money to keep sending aircraft up into the sky.

It's a different kind of sanction where they force Canada to suck away their funds and resources to do all of this.

The reality is that Russia won't be invading Canada any time soon. There are simply too many consequences involved, even if they succeeded. Russia will merely poke and prod, maybe even have a sub poke out of the ice on our side of the Arctic just to rile people up, but there won't be any military conflict. They don't need to and regardless of what people think of Putin, he's smarter than that.

That's not so much as a compliment for Putin, but a mere observation to not underestimate. He rarely does anything straight forward and usually has several agendas being played out in the background while everybody is focused on something else more simplistic & cookie cutter.

As a Star Trek reference, he's almost Romulan in his approach.

Well there is always guerrilla warfare tactics Canadian fighters can use to fight the fight just because our hardware is no match or our plan B could be a joint Canada/American force. If Harper would have kept his promise in rebuilding our military we could have had a chance.

You guys do know that Hitler lost the war against Russia because of the cold right? To win a war against Canada you have to attack the warm areas and win them and hold them. We are in a bigger danger of invasion by the US than we are from Russia but please lets go this route. May I suggest we make some big parking lots over top of some vast areas of what is now 'swamp' for lack of a better term. Small yearly maintenance fee and the true north is free from exploitation.

No we aren't. The consequences would certainly be worse if the US attacked us, but that is not the same thing as saying we are in bigger danger of that happening...

 I'd love to hear your opinion Walter if you care to do more than click

Do you think there is a higher probability that America will attack us?
Do you not think the consequences would be worse if the US attacked?

An American invasion isn't in the cards, but that doesn't mean we won't screw you up.

As long as the Canadians remain steadfast and united the Russians can be held at bay.

It's the Mexicans you should fear. They'll do to you what they've done to us.

I agree. Russia will not "invade" Canada in the sense that they will attack our military. Such an act would allow us to call out NATO under Article Five, and that would NOT be good for Russia,

What they WILL do is occupy our territorial waters, start exploring for oil, and once they are established there, GOOD LUCK removing them.

We need a vastly improved military presence in the north to avoid losing sovereignty.

Absolutely, but BS talk will not get it there, and that's all we get from Harpo - likely even less from Pony.
