You wouldn't expect these habits to make you fat - but they do.
1. Staying Up Late
The opposite would seem to make sense: If you stay up late, you burn more calories. Burn more calories, burn more fat.
Right?
Unfortunately, staying up late can set off a multi-pronged attack on your body composition.
First, sleep is vital for recovery. If you don't get enough sleep, your body won't build as much muscle mass - no matter how much time you spend in the gym. Less muscle mass = less fat burning power.
Next, if you are sleep-deprived, you increase levels of the stress hormone "cortisol." The connection between stress/cortisol and obesity is well established, but it gets worse.
A recent study (Epel, Yale) shows that cortisol related fat storage tends to be around the vital organs - the worst possible place to store fat in your body.
If that's not enough, lack of sleep is linked with glucose intolerance (diabetes), lower Growth Hormone levels, a weakened immune system, low energy, and more ...
Get a full night's sleep (7 to 9 hours), but make sure your place of rest is peaceful and pitch dark. Your natural sleep hormone, melatonin, is suppressed when there is too much light.
2. Skipping Breakfast
Many people skip breakfast thinking it will help them to lose weight.
"Fewer calories in - more fat burned."
The reality is that skipping breakfast actually lowers your metabolism so that at your next meal you'll tend to overeat.
To make it worse, the food you eat on a lowered metabolism is more likely to be stored as fat.
3. Prescription Drugs
Many of the drugs you are prescribed increase appetite, cause edema, or slow our metabolism. That's a recipe for getting, and looking, fatter.
The most commonly used drugs that have these effects are oral contraceptives, many anti-depressants, and estrogen replacements.
Check with your doctor to see about finding suitable alternatives that won't make you fat.

Found it on the line.

The #1 thing that will make you fat, is screwing with what works for your body, in order to try to make it work according to what some study found is correlated with skinny people.

yep.. they've narrowed it down.. then they scratch their heads, because they can't figure out how to fix sleep disorders. lol.

Take delta wave inversion for example, the typical issue with fibromyalgia. They can knock you out with pills, but they can't make your brain kick into delta waves.

If I eat breakfast, my caloric intake for the day skyrockets because it makes me more hungry throughout. Plus, I spend my morning trying to keep down a breakfast my body really didn't want.

Lack of sleep is also a major cause of many auto accidents. I actually can fall asleep easier after having a strong cup of coffee[yeah, it's strange]!

Doesn't make any sense eh? I do it farmer style. I wake up and do stuff, work out, etc then when I'm hungry I have breakfast. If it's the weekend and I get up late then it might take me longer to get the hunger up enough to eat breakfast. But I refuse to force myself to eat because somebody some where decided I needed to when my own body said I didn't.

That is sensible..I only eat a couple of small meals any day of the week and one of them usually is snack food like yogurt or popcorn & no special times for my meals either.

Thats exactly the way I am with breakfast. If I eat it its because I am forcing myself, and then I find I eat a lot more throughout the day.
If I dont eat breakfast, I find I am not as hungry during the day.

number one on the list ought to be driving.

Driving is the cause of most obesity. Especially the kind of obsessive driving we see in north america. Towns without sidewalks, six-lane highways leading to the malls and the stadia, double garages and families of 6, each with their own car for driving to the school which is a 15 minute walk away.

That's what makes people fat, when they feel it's justified to drive just because it'd take 10 minutes longer to walk or cycle.

2L bottles of pop.... the major start of the obesity epidemic (and no, this isn't an original thought, a friend mentioned this) was the advent of the 2L bottle of pop.
