What amazes me is briddish are actually proud of being oppressed by an unelected ruler.

It's become obvious that the American Republic, as conceived in its Constitution at the beginning of the Enlightenment is now in a state of tatters. The government is not 'of, for and by the people'.. it's run by PACs funded by the rich for the rich. Wealth is profoundly polarized, a police state is emerging to control the 'have nots'

It scours the world for foreign adventures in imperialism.. which now inevitably fail, and create blowback (unexpected consequences). Its legal system has lost all sense of good and evil.. and is now actuated by moral relativism, radical individualism, AND unfettered gratification, free of all social responsibility, as the first and preeminent 'right'.

It runs on a fantasy of ideological purity, of the exclusivity American Patriotism, of the Amercican Way, of the threat of 'UnAmericans' in their midst that must be eradicated.

The U.S.A. is collapsing, unfortunately into a whirlpool that is sucking the rest of the West into the depths. Melville was prophetic (in Moby Dick).

You are profoundly full of sh*t. Soverign power resides in the people. No amount of money can change that. If the people allow themselves to be swayed by superPAC money, that's on them, for better or worse. But spare me your gloom-and-doom garbage. Simple fact is corporations can't vote, PACs can't vote, and rich folk can only vote once each.

The U.S.A is now an empire.. run by an oligarchy.. which designates its emporer. (the President). It is an Empire in deep economic, cultural and social decline.. filled with hypocrisy. It's original idealism has transformed into an ideology in which anything can be rationalized.. torture, military adventurism, murder, tyranny.. within its own self protecting and reductive logic.

The advantage of a Monarchy, is it can still define a person of 'virtue' as a head of state... steeped in the traditions, patrimony and culture from which it emanates. The problem with assigning all that to a 'document' (a Constitution).. is it becomes an instrument of sophistry in a disintegrating culture.. without the sense of humanity, purpose and responsibility that is inherent in a person.

We then see the nonsense of rights absent any responsibility to the whole that now propels U.S. culture.. into the abyss.

God Save the Queen.

Yeah, all monarchs are "persons of virtue." You're either crazier'n a sh*thouse rat or profoundly ignorant of history.

Possibly both. Delusional for certain sure.

As usual you are incapable of responding to the substance of an issue and immediately resort personal aspersion, bones.

The 'office' of monarch is in fact an honourable and virtuous one. The case that it is often occupied by less than honourable and virtuous people is beside the point. It still represents the country in a purely human ideal.. which no Constitution can do.. replacing it with an artificial and corporate set of 'checks and balances'.. to cover its profound distrust of things 'human'.

The U.S.'s ultimate decline was in fact predestined in its origins.

I don't administer medicine to the dead.

Let's quote you, shall we?

The advantage of a Monarchy, is it can still define a person of 'virtue' as a head of state...

And then, in your very next post. . .

The 'office' of monarch is in fact an honourable and virtuous one. The case that it is often occupied by less than honourable and virtuous people is beside the point.

So we go from the virtue of the person in the office as the advantage, to the office being virtuous, though the person is not necessarily virtuous. And you do it in just two posts!

Oh, yeah, you're making tons of sense here.
