CNN Earth Expansion Coverup

CNN: Quake Moved Japan Coast 8 Feet, Shifted Earth's Axis.
(CNN) -- The powerful earthquake that unleashed a devastating tsunami Friday appears to have moved the main island of Japan by 8 feet (2.4 meters) and shifted the Earth on its axis.

"At this point, we know that one GPS station moved (8 feet), and we have seen a map from GSI (Geospatial Information Authority) in Japan showing the pattern of shift over a large area is consistent with about that much shift of the land mass," said Kenneth Hudnut, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

Reports from the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology in Italy estimated the 8.9-magnitude quake shifted the planet on its axis by nearly 4 inches (10 centimeters). ...

The quake occurred as the Earth's crust ruptured along an area about 250 miles (400 kilometers) long by 100 miles (160 kilometers) wide, as tectonic plates slipped more than 18 meters, said Shengzao Chen, a USGS geophysicist.
CNN deliberately doesn't tell you what direction Japan moved because if they did it would falsify Plate Tectonics.

Anyone know what that giant wirlpool is from>? Did a a pre existing trench get bigger?

Darkbeaver it could be possible for the pacific plate to push Eurasian plate in the case of this earthquake. But im only guessing. 8feet isnt alot. I know its a convergent zone, but in the word of geology not everything is textbook.

All I think I know about tectonics is that there is no way to subduct solid rock into solid rock. Can't be done they say. It's connected with how come mega fauna and flora was here once when the planet was smaller and the gravity weaker. This planet is lucky, it gets to grow, Mars gets eaten away, they say.

Yes you can. On the surface mountain ranges form this way. Getting into detail new minerals (some metamorphic rocks) are formed this way. and subduct wouldnt be the word. And oceanic crust always gets pushed down from continental crust

That's what I heard the shifting of the plates left a gap causing the whirl pool formation..

That's not how they say it's done. Really DB, if you're going to criticize the scientific consensus on something, you'd do well to try to understand it first.

Guys - the Japanese government put out a 12 mile radius around the reactor and said everyone outside that radius will be just fine. The internal fusion reactor is contained and will not be exploding any time soon. I know there is some serious devastation, but the nuke talk is a bit of sensationalism.

Did a "Supermoon" Cause Japan's Earthquake?

Airdate: 3/11/2011
Could the phenomenon known as a "supermoon" be responsible for the devastating earthquake that rocked Japan?

It's a theory quickly spreading across the internet.

Next week the moon will be closer to Earth than it has been at any other time in 19 years. The phenomenon is called a supermoon. The moon will appear 14 percent larger and significantly brighter than the normal full moon.

Some scientists claim the supermoon is wreaking havoc on our planet and may be behind the recent earthquakes in New Zealand and Japan.

The tsunami that struck Indonesia in 2005 occurred two weeks before a supermoon, and in 1992 the 7.3 earthquake in Southern California also coincided with a supermoon.

Neil Tyson is an astrophysicist at New York City's American Museum of Natural History. He tells INSIDE EDITION that the earthquakes have nothing to do with what the moon is doing.

"We get earthquakes all the time. The fact that we can't yet predict earthquakes with accuracy leads people to reach, grab into the sky for forces that they want to blame a catastrophe on," he says.

Looks like one of Japan's nuclear reactors might go Chernobyl..

It appears in spite of all the naysayers, that you may just be right. I have noticed a disturbing trend in the nuclear industry no matter what the nationality of the reactor and that is spokespersons for the industry immediately deny that there is any sort of problem. The CBC had an interesting feature on tonight's news showing the changing story regarding the nuclear reactor in Japan; beginning with complete assurances that there was no danger whatsoever, to the current situation in which residents are being told to get the hell away from the reactor. Anytime the employees crewing the reactor abandon ship it is a sign of bad things to come.

On an associated note, it is interesting to note that the US aircraft carrier off the coast near the reactor moved a little farther out to sea. Since the carrier almost certainly has sophisticated equipment for checking radiation levels what did the captain of the carrier know that he did not pass on to the media?

I'm beginning to wonder if people aren't starting to worry about things they can't do anything about.

Nothing, CBC Radio reported it. Aircrew returning from an overflight of the reactor area showed elevated levels of radiation, so they scrubbed everything down and moved away a bit. It was explained perfectly clearly, the reactors are leaking radionuclides and it's public knowledge.

The difference in the gravitational effect of the moon at its nearest and farthest approaches to the earth is less than the effect on your head of the pillow you sleep on. It's spreading quickly across the Internet and bringing out the tinfoil hat brigade because so many people are scientifically illiterate.

I'm not going to exaggerate.

That is the stupidest thing I have ever seen in my life.

If you have taken exception to my post preceding yours you may be wrong in both statements. You exaggerate the scope and importance of your life experience perhaps. Certainly there is nothing untrue about my post.

Umm, I think that is what I said. But thanks for agreeing with me.
