In Venezuela, journalists are being caught in the line of fire, according to the General Secretary of the IFJ, Aidan White. Over three days at the beginning of March, the IFJ reports that two cameramen were shot, a photographer was injured by rubber bullets and two other reporters were hit by tear gas and sharp items. They also report that a female journalist was assaulted and received death threats and two other journalists were stripped of their equipment and then punched by government supporters.

Amnesty International has criticized the Venezuelan government for failing to effectively investigate incidents of political violence attributed to both government and opposition supporters. "The impunity enjoyed by the perpetrators encourages further human rights violations in a particularly volatile political climate."

Nothing surprising there. As long as "Dictator Chavez" maintains power in Venezuela, these human rights violations againts the Venezuelan citizens will continue.

We could say the same about "Dictator Bush" and the countless violations against the citizens of Iraq.

of course ya can. But heck......it is so much easier to attack someone else in another country..........then it is to face the truths about the leadership of their own country. A lot like projecting their own problem onto someone else. (one of the more counterproductive psychological "defense mechanisms"....

Of course it serves as a cute little DISTRACTION from their own new Autocracy...dictatorship.......or whatever the new term might be for the current US regime.

The part that is a tad ironic is that the Pharaoh of USR is trying to spread "freedom" and "democracy" in other areas of the world VIA WAR............while same does not exist in his own nation anymore. Hmmmmmm . So does this mean that if one wants to live under the US version of freedom and democracy one has to move to Iraq now????

curious set of circumstances created by Pharoah Megalomaniac.

Despite Chavez' authoritarian impulses, he might do
better than the crap that preceded him.

How must grapple with the right mix of socialism and capitalism, handle the opposition and succession of
leadership issues and must re-evalute his heavy-handed
use of co-opting all the broadcast air waves.

I hope America stays out of it.

Let's see what This Man Of The People does.

He'll have enough on his hands to defeat the
best hopes and dreams.

In the meantime we can evaluate what socialism
and capitalism brings to the table.

I hope America stays out of it.

So do I. America must start learning about when to be constructive in it's involvement......and when NOT to involve at all. America might be amazed to find out that things will run just fine without their perpetual meddling.....

You know it would be a beautiful experiment
if you Ocean Breeze and I switched roles ?

I'll take over the job of pounding Amerika,
and you take the World Watch.

It could be quite an education this experiment.

Any enthusiasm for this ?

Don' t have to switch roles to do this........as I watch the world ......and its dynamics too. About "pounding" america....... well.......it is back to the " You can dish it out, but ya can't take it".......model.Checks and balances. Yin/ Yang. It is not "america" that is being pounded as much as the current moronic ......leadership that is a toxin on not only america , but the rest of the world.

But let's see what you have to say when you "pound" america..... as an insider's view would be interesting.

while we are offering each other "experiments " role reversals etc....... Here is one for ya Jim.

Can you post ........from Today to Jan 2 ( an arbitrary time frame) without doing it in riddle, circular -semi poetic - metaphorical phrasing????

Ya know, regular folk straight talk...???

.........are ya up to the challenge.

.............and now we resume our regular broadcasting...

"it is back to the " You can dish it out, but ya can't take it"......."
---------------------------Ocean Breeze----------------

So you reject the offer to switch roles ?
I'll bash Amerika and you take the World Watch?

I think that would be quite an interesting experiment.

Now for your challenge to me?

Well, that's a tall order.
No analogies ?
No metaphor ?

That's unfair.

How about parables ?

Aw geeeze Ocean Breeze, keeping me away
from riddles and analogies and metaphors would
be like stealing your use of that dot dot dot
thing --- the elipse.

That simile okay with you ? :) :)

By the way it would be difficult to switch roles
would it not? It would be an interesting experiment.
You on the World Watch, me on the Bush Amerika.

Would we be good at it ?

I think I've found my earliest post....Or certainly one of them

October 15, 2005

When are you going to learn James? It's none of your damned business what Chavez does in his own country. He has been democratically elected twice. Who are you to say the Venezualan people were wrong? Why don't you just admit that you want Venezualan oil?

But he does make a very valid point. The US propaganda machine has been active against Chavez too and like Iran, Oil is the big motivator. "In God we trust" - Gold, Oil, Drugs.
