How many more resource 'wake-up calls' will our prime minister snooze through?
Leaders are supposed to lead. Then there’s Canada. The deputy prime minister said over the weekend that Teck Resource’s decision to pull the plug on a giant mega-project should be a “wake-up call” for Canadians. Apparently, the call was for the rest of us, not for the Liberal government who created the mess in the first place.
And to correct the record, this was not simply one “wake-up call” but followed dozens more since Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took over in 2015. At least $150 billion in capital has left Canada, and as many as 200,000 jobs, because the Liberals have made it impossible to build infrastructure or resource projects or wealth here. (But SNC lavalin Fiasco was all about the 3000 jobs in Quebec that where never in any real danger?)
This is also not the last “wake-up call” either. More catastrophes await following this year’s calamities. The next victims, beset by government paralysis and Indigenous or eco-radical sabotage, will likely be: the $12-billion TMX pipeline; the $40-billion Kitimat LNG plant and $6.7-billion Coastal GasLink pipeline.
Undaunted by this or by dreadful polls, the prime minister accepts no responsibility or blame and his only solution is to launch a listening tour in order to ask Canadians what to do, and to give a speech at the world’s biggest mining conference, held in Toronto each year.
The speech, an advanced version of which is already online, will simply add to the carnage with its word salad message that “environmental policy is not just good for the planet, but it’s also good for business,” whatever that means.
Then there’s the tour which is, in itself, passing the buck and an admission of half a decade of failure. “In the coming year, we want to hear from you on how to innovate and transform our economy to keep good jobs here and create new ones … We will be launching pathways soon so that industries, citizens, Indigenous peoples can inform Canada’s clean transition,” Trudeau is to say in a speech. The tour won’t get underway until April, said sources. Translation? The meetings will simply stall and defuse tensions and will spend a couple of years asking Canadians what to do because the government doesn’t know what to do. Never did.
Leadership is about knowledge and judgment. It’s about adhering to the organizing principles of the nation, weighing all strategic options, adopting best practices, and adhering to the national interest. The “national interest” is not about clinging to power by making micro-alliances with as many noisy, vested interests as possible. That’s what this regime has done and is why it shares power with socialists, greens, secessionists, American eco-NGOs, 632 First Nations, certain regions, and any hereditary chieftain no matter how questionable their influence or authority is.
The tipping point, in terms of living standards, has been reached now that no one is preventing radicals from illegally crippling the economy in solidarity with hereditary chiefs who claim sovereignty over Ottawa, the province, the 20 First Nations, and the rule of law. Ironically, no one is protecting these projects that will build the economy, bring dignity and jobs to the First Nations, and replace the use of dirty coal in Asia.
Since 2015, the Liberals have overtaxed, targeted Canada’s engine of economic growth (resources), untethered First Nations leaders from constraints involving the charter of rights or laws, and allowed foreign and domestic environmental radicals to run riot or be embedded in federal positions.
Trudeau has claimed Canadians want draconian climate change remediation, but that’s not true. For instance, a December poll showed 76 per cent believe the country needs to be doing more on the issue of climate change, but 64 per cent believe Canada should capitalize on the global need for fossil fuels. That’s not a mandate. That’s support for a vague notion compared to huge support for a concrete policy of resource development.
Now we must put up with a listening tour by a clueless regime, elected to lead in the national interest, but unable to do so because, apparently, none of us saw the “wake-up call” coming.

HEY RON............................BETTER SIT DOWN FIRST IF YOU READ THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And it is proof positive that all Cdns SHOULD HOWL WITH HYSTERICAL LAUGHTER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whenever a LIE-beral gets annoyed at the nickname!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here is a fascinating article illustrating JAW DROPPING LIE-beral HYPOCRISY AND DOUBLE DEALING!! With some comments of my own in brackets):
How green is natural gas? The case for and against Quebec's Énergie Saguenay project
Promoters face tough questions over claims the $14B pipeline and LNG plant will cut greenhouse gas emissions
By Glenn Wanamaker · CBC News · Posted: Oct 11, 2019 4:00 AM ET | Last Updated: October 11, 2019
LNG tankers could soon be sharing the waters of the Saguenay Fjord with the kayaks, cruise ships and cargo ships that navigate through the protected marine park. (Julia Page/CBC)
(ISNT THAT FASCINATING?? And how is it that this proposed gas project is NOT FRONT PAGE NEWS - being discussed by everybody?? And NOTE that it was reported by CBC News in autumn 2019 even as LIE-berals and radical natives sought NEW WAYS to oppose the Northern Gateway gas pipeline!!!!!!!)
(Perhaps Alberta natural gas is somehow CLEANSED of fossil fuel taint by passing through Quebecois hands??????????????????????)
Énergie Saguenay, a proposed $14-billion pipeline and LNG terminal, is the largest private investment project in recent Quebec history. But do Saguenéens want it? CBC Quebec travelled through the region to find out what's at stake. Here is the first in a series.
(For more detail read:

The wrenching debate over fossil fuels and climate change is lapping up against the shores of the magnificent Saguenay Fjord in the heart of Quebec.
Here, just upstream from the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park — a protected area for the endangered beluga whale — two major, intertwined projects are in the planning and evaluation stages.
(Is it not IRONIC - the LIE-berals who DEPLORE ships on the west coast will IGNORE ships on the east coast!! How HYPOCRITICAL can LIE-berals get??????????????)
Gazoduc is to deliver Alberta natural gas through an as-yet unbuilt, 782-kilometre pipeline extending from northern Ontario through Quebec's Abitibi and Lac-Saint-Jean regions.
(Oh Canada - the place where pipeline dreams go to DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
If the project gets approval, it would be an important boost for an industry struggling to get its product to market.
Gazoduq's pipeline extension, in yellow, would begin near the Ontario border and cross the Abitibi and upper Mauricie regions, ending at the Port of Saguenay. (Joan Dymianiw/CBC)
The gas that comes down that pipeline would be transformed by GNL Québec at a liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in the Port of Saguenay.
Its promoters say it would be among the greenest LNG plants in the world. Tanker ships would carry the LNG from the marine terminal, down the Saguenay Fjord and on to markets in Europe and Asia.
At a combined estimated cost of $14 billion, the pipeline and LNG plant would form Quebec's largest privately funded industrial project in decades.
(LIE-berals HAVE JUST CHEERED the withdrawal of the $20 billion dollar Teck mine project in Alberta - so WHY NO RESOUNDING LIE-beral NO when this project was proposed?? Oh -right ITS IN THE LIE-beral vote rich Quebec heartland and no LIE-beral denies Quebec ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
(When the James Bay Hydro Project was built - with the generator house in Labrador - and the electricity lines conveniently running through Quebec - it was QUEBEC that got the lions share of revenue - at the EXPENSE of Labrador and Newfoundland - thanks to LIE-beral Chretien!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
(And now we have LIE-berals caught out again - trying to BOTH SHUT DOWN Gas shipments to the west coast while apparently COMFORTABLE with making Alberta gas ACCEPTABLE by letting Quebec profit from it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
The projects would create at least 10,000 jobs during the construction phase and about 1,100 permanent direct and indirect jobs once in operation, stimulating economic diversification.
(Yes - an the Teck Mine that LIE-berals SCORNED was an even BIGGER AND MORE PROFITABLE PROJECT - oh well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
But standing in the way are profound concerns about increased greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, with many demanding action in the face of the global climate crisis.
(There is also the issue of MAJOR POLITICAL FALLOUT - if the Quebec project gets a green light while western projects are KILLED OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Anti-pipeline protesters make their point at the climate march on Sept. 27 in Montreal. Protests took place across the province, including in Saguenay, where the natural gas liquefaction plant would be built. (Ivanoh Demers/Radio-Canada)
Saguenay Mayor Josée Néron can feel the conflict.
Her city is still plagued by high unemployment, even while the province enjoys its lowest overall unemployment rate in more than 40 years.
(Uh huh - and the recent rail blockades against the Northern Gateway natural gas pipe have resulted in severe shortages of natural gas for Quebecers - no doubt having a reliable pipeline filled with good Alberta gas would be a comfort?????????)
An LNG plant offering good, well-paying jobs would help retain young people and stimulate the creation of spin-off projects.
However, GNL Québec faces a challenge, Néron said.
"People are in the streets are talking about the environment," she said. "You have to reassure the population that you're a company that has the environment as its number one concern, and you're not afraid to make a commitment before you start to build your plant."
Pat Fiore, GNL Québec's president, says the company is committed to two things: building a plant that will be carbon-neutral, and replacing coal or oil in export markets.
(WE KNOW that natural gas burns cleaner than coal or oil thus replacing the dirty fuel is better for us ALL!! There is also the issue that many people would prefer to buy their gas from friendly Canada - rather than from Russians who use their gas revenue to buy weapons to threaten their neighbours with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
"The whole genesis of this project is to minimize the impacts in Canada, in Quebec and displace more polluting fuels elsewhere in the world," Fiore said in an interview.
(It sounds like a NOBLE GOAL - but the guy FORGOT to mention the boost LIE-berals would get from bringing good jobs to Quebec!! Too bad LIE-berals CANNOT EXPLAIN why the same good jobs are not suitable for Alberta!!!!!!!!!!!)
To meet those commitments, the company commissioned biologist and research scientist Claude Villeneuve, the chair of the eco-advisory council at l'Université du Québec in Chicoutimi, to advise it on what to do about CO2 emissions.
"I don't recommend anything," Villeneuve said. "They are responsible for their intent to become carbon-neutral. If they are serious, they will do it. If they are just lip-servicing, they will not."
"Prof. Villeneuve and his team have done an amazing job," said Fiore. "He's helped us open the window to look at new paths that we haven't thought about — the use of the CO2 itself, the potential for renewable natural gas."
"We're going to [send] all that to our designers. We think it will be a multi-pronged solution. It's a cumulative of all these things that we're going to do that are going to get us good results."
To date, though, some residents along the length of the proposed pipeline path and on both sides of the Fjord aren't buying Fiore's sales pitch.
Adrien Guibert-Betez, an organizer of the opposition group Coalition Fjord, doesn't think there is anything the promoter can do to make the project acceptable.
"All the scientists all over the world said that we have to cut our greenhouse gases, and by that, we have to stop the utilization of gas and petrol and coal. So at the foundation itself, the project is not a good project."
(So we are witnessing a battle between delusional dreamers and people who need heat for their houses and who also need STEADY WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Guibert-Betez's coalition has been mobilizing residents along the Saguenay Fjord who question whether a company should contribute to the production of natural gas at all, regardless of its environmental commitments.
UQAC student Adrien Guibert-Betez of Coalition Fjord says any project that increases greenhouse gas emissions is unacceptable. (Julia Page/CBC)
(Maybe the kid should shut up till after he is out of school and dealing with the real world - and with his STUDENT LOANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
In June, a group of 160 Quebec scientists signed an open letter calling on the federal and Quebec governments to reject the projects because they are "incompatible with the idea of energy transition."
(OH!! Would these be the same scientists who signed a recent petition that became a LAUGHING STOCK IN CANADA - AFTER Rebel Media exposed the NONSENSE CREDENTIALS of the pseudo - scientists????????????????)
"It is essential to reduce the number of infrastructures linked to fossil fuels and not build more," they wrote, in order to meet the 2050 goal of carbon neutrality.
(Simplistic efforts to reduce the fuel supply WILL NOT SUCCEED in a democratic country where the MAJORITY consider fossil fuel to be a NECESSITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
(Radicals are QUICK to count the amount of green house gases the new plant would emit- but THEY IGNORE the question of how big a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions would result if natural gas was burned instead of coal and oil!!!!!!!!!!)
