The City of Toronto will hire a new “transit czar” to light a fire under projects like the downtown relief line and Scarborough subway, Mayor John Tory says.
“You need somebody that quite frankly – I hate to put it in the vernacular – but that is going to kick some butt,” Tory told reporters Thursday.
(Oh RIGHT! One wonders what butts the transit czar will kick? Those of city council for wasting time and money fighting the Ford order to cut the size of council? Or will the czar roll back the DOUBLED office budget that sulky councillors just awarded themselves????)
(Or maybe the transit czar will kick butts at TCHC- the biggest slum lords in Canada? TCHC has hundreds of single family dwellings sitting vacant and rotting- all scattered around Toronto! Toronto real estate prices are such that even in that ROTTEN, uninhabitable state- the TCHC properties are STILL VALUABLE!)
(Former mayor Rob Ford PROVED that if TCHC HOGS were forced to sell some of the properties- they could then afford to do desperately needed repairs to their multi unit buildings! And since many of the single family dwellings have sat empty for a decade or more- it is clear that TCHC CANNOT afford to deal with them and put them into liveable state! So will the transit czar kick TCHC butts in order to generate cash from TCHC sales?)
(Or will the czar deal with abuses of the benefit system by our civil service union Hogs? The most recent outrage is the huge amount of Viagra being offered to Hogs - for no good reason! It seems likely the Hogs are re-selling Viagra to the public for extra cash!)
(Or perhaps the czar will kick councillor butts for handing out grants to the racists of Black Lives Matter? Or maybe the czar will force the Pride Parade organizers to stop obstructing police presence at the Parade?)
(Or what of the bitter feud - semi public between LIE-berals and Metrolinx over spending irregularities? Will the Czar kick butts at arrogant and too often wildy over budget Metrolinx? Will the czar kick butts to get a public reading of the audit of Metrolinx ordered by LIE-berals?)
Toronto will set up a Transit Expansion Office, led by an executive director, with a mandate to ensure the city’s approved plans don’t fall victim to bureaucratic roadblocks.
(Bureaucratic road blocks? What delusional thinking is this? Toronto has NO new transit because Toronto is BANKRUPT! Under orders from Silly Hall, Metrolinx has produced a series of grand new transit visions and each one has foundered on the same tired old problem- NO CASH!)
(I suppose the czar will follow the Silly Hall position that it is the responsibility of other govt levels to bail the city out! The problem with that argument is that Toronto ALREADY gets TEN TIMES MORE PER CITIZEN than any other Ontari-owe municipality!)
The salary range was not immediately available but it was expected to be in line with other brass at the city.
The mayor insisted that this new executive position was not duplicating the work of major project staff already employed at the TTC.
This person, with the backing of the mayor’s office, will work with the TTC, Metrolinx, the province, city bureaucracy and anyone else involved in major transit projects – a one-stop, point-of-contact transit office, Tory said.
(Uh huh- and how much of the czar`s job wil be to ensure that the city screws the province if and when Queens Park ends up controlling TTC? Residents of Durham Region have already seen a smaller version of this CRAP!)
(Some years back, the towns of Pickering, Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa that form Durham Region, amalgamated their individual transit systems and handed them over to the Region to operate!)
(The problem was that Oshawa had UNDERFUNDED its quite generous transit worker pension plan for many years-the usual Hog crap! And of course Oshawa council saw no reason why the Region should not assume its debts as well as its transit equipment!!)
(So the Region went to legal war with various towns siding against the Oshawa Hogs! And I have heard rumours that Whitby alone may have spent a million dollars in legal fees arguing the Oshawa pension mess! So- is the new Toronto czar looking at pulling the same kind of BULLSH+T with the province????)
(WE know that the vast majority of civil service union Hog pension plans are underfunded-as of 2012! And we know that Wynne-bag LIE-berals passed new legislation some years later to define a pension fund as fully paid up if it can meet 85 percent of its bills! So what sort of crap is the new czar planning to dump on Ford govt?)
Tory said he has had some difficulties with the way the TTC has managed large projects in the past, noting that the Toronto-York Spadina extension was blowing by its completion deadline when he arrived in 2014.
“The transit office will help prevent that kind of thing from happening in the future, that projects get so far off track that then it requires dramatic action to get them back on track,” he said.
(Thats ODD! The routinely over budget Metrolinx was created specifically for the same reasons- to avoid political meddling and get things done on time and on budget!)
The city’s transit priorities remain the downtown relief line, the Bloor-Danforth extension to Scarborough, the Eglinton East LRT, the Eglinton West LRT, Smart Track and the waterfront transit network, he said.
(In other words, the same transit plans from three decades ago are still desired! With NO cash in hand to start ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Tory expects that the majority of the new city council will remain on-side with this plan.
The Doug Ford government had promised to upload Toronto’s subway system, but Tory said that would not negate the need for the new transit office.
“That’s hardly a foregone conclusion that there’s going to be that uploading,” Tory said.
(Yes- Tory would be a fool to assume that Ford would quietly accept an Oshawa style pension screwing from Toronto! And of course - given the financial realities- there may be changes to TTC pay and pensions and staffing levels as well- if the province takes over!!!!)
“I’ve made it very clear that it’s not just going to happen because somebody else says so. In this case, there’s a lot more to this than simply passing a bill.”
(Yes- such as who gets to buy all those TTC Hog votes!!!!!!!)
The Ford government passed legislation this summer that reduced the size of council, but Tory said any move to upload the subways would need to address the needs of riders, employees and Toronto taxpayers.
(But unsaid by Tory was his major concerns regarding pension debt and Hog voting support! If this uploading goes fairly- Toronto Silly Hall will be left paying for PAST pension promises to TTC employees who now work for the province!)

So let me get this straight.
Did Mayor John Tory really tell reporters Thursday morning that City Hall needs a another layer of bureaucracy — namely a new dedicated transit expansion office — to "avoid bureaucratic delays" with getting transit built in Toronto?
Did he also say that the office will be headed by a transit czar at the executive director level ($200,000-plus) who will "kick butt" so that work happens as fast as it can?
That office, as I learned late in the day, will cost taxpayers $2-million a year and will have up to 15 employees!
(Shall we say the 15 employees will be charged with screwing the province over pension debts if Ford actually TRIES to take over management of TTC HOGS?)
"We need to have a laser-like focus on doing the work needed to get ahead," Tory said.
(HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! a ‘LASER LIKE FOCUS! Apparently Tory THINKS the major work is whining to other levels of govt for MORE GRAVY!)
(And THERE is the entire problem! There are all manner of costly plans......and NO MONEY thanks to ALWAYS WASTEFUL Silly Hall and its Hogs!)
