where do your loyalites lie?
really its NOYFB. This isn't about "loyalty" and "allegance" but rather a realistic assessment of benefits and harm.
And can you be objective, when you support the empire so obviously??
You keep referring to the US as "the Empire" and I have to ask: are you a rabid loyalist or lost in the Star Wars galaxy, far, far away... If its the latter, the US still elects their senate so "Empire" still doesn't fit.
Not one for patriotic fanaticism...
Just fanatic anti-Americanism
...but some objectivity is in order.
Well it would be nice to see some obectivity but we won't see it from you...
The empire has a long record of "shafting" others. It matters little who it is. We have seen them turn "friends " or allies into enemies on a whim or your garden variety greed. That does not make for a trustworthy neighbor.
OK dearie, are we talking about the Romans or the Americans? Your description is a lot closer to the former than the latter. Yes, the US has done some things that they shouldn't be proud of but so have many nations, including Canada and most definately our parent nations, the former empires of Britain and France. On the whole, I do view the US much as I do the Brits: they have done some screwed up things but on the whole their influence has been positive, not just for themselves but for humanity as a whole. Can they use some work? Most definately but so can we.
Not saying that they don't have many positives. & many accomplishments worth of respect. But lets be realistic. Have yet to see any CA media actively stir up anti american sentiment. It is just not what they do. If they do, they are a lot more subtle about it. (and realism says they are more than justified.)
The CBC takes pokes at anyone the old Liberal Establishment saw as an opponent (old habits of sucking up to their former masters die hard with their bureaucrats), and that most definately includes the US.
Alberta has an "interesting " relationship with the empire.....and it is based on oil
Actually Alberta's affinity for the US has more to do with the more independent mindset most Albertans and most Americans have, when compared to the welfare-and-nanny-state mentality much of Quebec, the GTA and lower mainland of BC seem to share. But light another blunt and let your clarity tell you all about places you don't know anything about...
