As I was saying I think there are some who had a soul at one point but lost it, possibly Olson. I'm not sure what are all the parts that comprise the soul, but I'm quite sure conscience is one of the them. All the parts of a human that you can put a finger on is just the "container". This "life" is just like a railway station on the C.P.R. This is just my theory, I can't prove a thing, outside of the fact it makes sense to me.

OK, conscience makes sense to me, not soul. Our conscience is a huge part of our makeup, of course,
and olsen lost his somewhere along the way, along with a few other emotional parts of thought process.

yes, many walk this earth with many difference ideas of 'why' we are here. I don't question that at
all, I will never know how we came to life, but that will be figured out somewhere along the way,
in a scientific way, that makes sense to me.

I just know air, sunshine and water are definitely ingredients needed. lol

I have a friend who killed himself (yes, he was dead for 5+ minutes and sustained damage as a result), and swears he went to heaven. And I have to tell you, it's pretty hard if you sit and listen to his discussion about the days he spent in limbo, talking to god, while he waited to find out his fate, to not have a chill run up your spine.

He was never religious, in fact counted himself atheist, and still is not religious. But he will tell you there is most definitely more to the story than we're aware of.
anything more you feel you could tell us?...I am facinated by death experiences... my dad had a bizarre episode during surgery that the doctors told him could not have taken place even though he could relate the whole conversation taking place in the operating theatre... I believe there is more although I do not believe the Christian version so I am always interested to hear people's experience of death

I don't think all people have a soul but most do. That's the difference between Clifford Olson, Paul Bernardo and the rest of us.
I believe we are nothing more than soul... and our bodies merely retain who we are...thus for me there is nothing which breathes that does not have soul

I agree with the first half of your statement, but there are some people who are completely lacking any conscience or feeling for anyone but themselves. I don't see how they can have a soul. But yes, the human body is just the container.

soul is just who we are...some are highly evolved...when you meet them you know they are almost in a different realm, they do not judge, they have no desire to harm anyone or anything, they have wisdom beyond most around them, they draw you to them, you want to hear what they have to say, you always feel like you are more when you leave them...

the lesser evolved do silly hurtful things not necessarily on purpose, they do not seem to get things on a deeper level regardless of how you explain things to them...they tend to think they are 'right' about things

then I believe there are those who have engaged in things that are life killing/soul sucking and thus have lost much of their soul light...I believe those are the ones you speak of...they will have a long long struggle back to the light/life force

this is how I look at it currently

I agree with that analogy, but I just don't use the word soul, other descriptions fit those you speak
of quite nicely.

Most people throughout history have believed at least some of the following: 1. there are supernatural forces that will protect us if we follow the proper rituals 2. some part of your personality lives on after the death of your body. 3. the universe has some purpose. 4. people have special, untapped powers that will enable them to get something for nothing. There's no evidence any of them are true, and plenty of evidence that none of them are.

okay, you have piqued my interest. What descriptions would you use?

Dexter Sinister; Most people throughout history have believed at least some of the following:

1. there are supernatural forces that will protect us if we follow the proper rituals (not true for me, as no rituals are necessary and protection is subjective)
2. some part of your personality lives on after the death of your body. (true for me)
3. the universe has some purpose. (true)
4. people have special, untapped powers that will enable them to get something for nothing. (untrue)

There's no evidence any of them are true, and plenty of evidence that none of them are. (true)

Some fly with their arms spread wide, some in the Lotus position, some bobbing their noggins on their magic rugs (carpets are wall to wall) others fly through the geometry and physics trying to balance their heart and mind like a perfectly spinning Dreidel with the advantage of God influencing one of the 4 outcomes when you do fall.

Choose your method and fly.

And all the god-botherers, bead-shakers, incense-burners, and prayer-mumblers put together haven't changed the world as much as any single engineer.

wow, lots, but when I have to start thinking of the actual words, isn't that easy, the people you describe are just genuine, aha, there is one, honest, another one,
loyal, true, nice to know, truly happy, open minded, thoughtful, helpful, wise,
and all of the ones you used.

nah, not that hard at all.

Our parts eventually erode to become elements on other forms of life and the energy that was in us dissipates as well. But there is something beyond "our mortal coil" and its called a universe and there's nothing "supernatural" in it.

I think the elements and energy are Earth bound. The biosphere is a closed system and the source of the quality we call life. The life force of the biosphere is one organism and we are part of that organism the same way a skin cell is a part of the organism we call our body. Every cell of this organism is an interdependent and interconnected part of the whole. We destroy other life forms at our own peril (as in extincting whole species).

We may cut off a limb and still function, but if we cut out an organ, the system is weakened. If we remove the brain or heart, we die. We need to find the link pin that is vital to the well being of the whole organism, and I am fairly certain it is not us. I think without us the Earth would thrive. At this point the Earth looks like it has skin cancer caused by our activities.

"Neuroimaging studies have linked activity within a large network in the brain that connects the frontal, parietal, and temporal cortexes with spiritual experiences, but information on the causative link between such a network and spirituality is lacking," explains lead study author, Dr. Cosimo Urgesi from the University of Udine in Italy.

absolutely, and we are trying has hard as we can to harm our earth, which is our home, our protector,
our everything, in my opinion, BUT I think the earth will get rid of us long before we get rid of
it, and it will flourish again and figure out a new organism to live on its surface who might
care for it, in a way we cannot seem to figure out.
