Hugh Alexander Thorburn, 49, faces one count each of making and possessing child pornography and two counts each of juvenile prostitution and internet luring.
TORONTO - A university educator faces child-porn charges after police alleged that a 17-year-old girl was paid to pose for pornographic photographs.
Hugh Alexander Thorburn, 49, was arrested last Friday in the parking lot of a Barrie hotel while “in the company of a 17-year-old girl,” police said.
He faces one count each of making and possessing child pornography and two counts each of juvenile prostitution and internet luring.
A man had paid a 17-year-old girl “for the purposes of posing for the creation of child pornography,” OPP Det.-Sgt. Terry Paddon alleged Monday.
Thorton’s arrest comes just days after another academic — University of Toronto professor Benjamin Levin — was charged with similar offences. Levin was also an adviser to Premier Kathleen Wynne.
