There's the catch, isn't it? If you're taking meds to maintain dormancy, then you're not "rid" of it, are you?

Most infections don't require continuous pharmacopia. Some conditions do, but that's the trade-off for improved function. Interactions in the body are complex, so that's a discussion the patient and doctor need to have.

How many recovered? I would bet money that the morbidity rates for any malady/condition/disease you can think of have gone down...except in the cases where people are now ignoring immunization programs, allowing diseases that were under control to creep back into the public health arena.

More important than how many recovered is if the right ones (the fittest) recovered. I think by and large the fittest phyically are often the fittest mentally and the fittest morally and ethically, and maybe that has something to do with why our jails are full.
