Look at this french symbol. ok I know the Americans use it too, it's the Roman Faces, used as a Republican symbol of authority in the old Roman Republic.

In the 20th centrury however it has become known as a fascist symbol. Anyhow another use of symbolism which confues some people who are narrow minded.

Where does America use that?

So the Lion is now an imperialist symbol?

I thought the Lion was a symbol of the UK.

No the lion is the laziest animal on earth.

Don't beleive it?

I saw it on discovery channel.

Because the lion sleeps a good majority of the day does not make it lazy. They sleep because it is in their instincts. They sleep to conserve energy and digest the tons of collective of buffallo, zebra, wilderbeast meat in their stomachs.

I do watch the Disc Channel and all of the others channels like that. I've also seen lions take out elephants... kick the snot out of a pack of hyenas etc.

Go kick a sleeping lion and see how lazy he is.

They might have decided to call it laziest animal because he sleeps a lot. And because the female lions who hunt, and lion goes and eats and sleeps again.

But of course the lion is the symbol of king in nature. He protects it's own borders. Other animals scare to aproach female lions because of presence of lion.

But because he sleeps a lot, he is giving the title the laziest animal on earth.

But ALL of the lions sleep a lot. The Female lions spend most of the day sleeping as well. The lionesses do a majority of the hunting because the Male of the Pride has earned the top spot. He earned it by killing or running off the previous dominant male of the pride. It is nature.

The females sleep, get hungry, the male lion stirs and waits, the females kill something, he strolls in and takes his share and then they eat. Sometimes he'll even let the lionesses sit at the table so to speak if he is in a good mood.

But when the lionesses get in a jam with marauding hyenas all it takes is the male(s) flying out of the bushes to send them yelping and scrambling for cover.

The male lion is Truly the King of Beast.

he may have and I think you are right with the Roman symbolish the French republic and later the facade of the republic during the mpire used. but I think the French monarchist imperalist symbol was something else. It's completely slipping my mind

The scary fleurs-de-lis.

Personally I understand the use of the faces and I understand why some socialists today still have a foundess for the soviet flag even though they may not agree with the soviet union. The flag still has a meaning behind it as the Faces do which are not true to Fascism.

Forced Democracy never works.

It worked in Japan.

Japan and Germany were already growing, and the people were educated. Those two countries were impires.

It's not a good exapmle to compare post war Japan and Germany with Iraq.

First, demonstrate evidence that Iraqis are less educated today than Japan and Germany were 60 years ago. Otherwise, how do you know?

Second, what do empires have to do with whether a nation is a democracy or not? The USSR was an empire and was not a democracy.

I'm not necessarily comparing Iraq with Germany and Japan. He said "never". Well, "never" means never. But there was Japan.

Germany didn't have democracy imposed on the country as Germany had been a democracy beforehand.

RE: Al-Zarqawi has been k

well all I have to say it's about time someone got him, it's too bad he could not be put on trial for his crimes and sent to prison. He deserves more punishment.

It is an odd time where a nearly-fictitous human being having a bomb dropped on them from on high is a cause to celebrate

Since Zarquawi was supposedly behind all the bad stuff that happened in Iraq, I wonder how the media is gonna spin the continuing violence- can't wait to hear the name of the next supposed puppet-master, I bet they'll think up something that's easier to pronounce
