I'm not sure if they're in the same debate. He places too much emphasis on his Phd

Well, his PhD is why he was writing the book, it's why he's studying religions. I don't blame him for stressing it. Especially when it is just as much, if not a larger part, of his time, interest, and personality, than Islam is.

The fact that he is Muslim is a sidebar at best. The interviewer tried to make it his reason de etre.

Not crazy about the interviewer. She asked an irrelevant question in over a dozen ways rather than getting into the book.

The interviewer with an agenda tries to accuse the writer of the book with
having an agenda. She looked like and idiot and he of course looked like
an educated person trying to describe a photo to a philistine/
Actually its funny the Muslim Religion has a very high regard for Jesus he
is one on their prophets and very high up there. While the Bible has about
a page dedicated to Mary. the Koran devotes a chapter.
She was looking for a cheap angle to be critical and he chewed her up in an
educated way.

Northern Ontario,
It looks as if the interviewer hasn't read the book and is basing her questions on other people's notes that probably haven't read it either.

Worst interview ever? It's in the running for sure. I like how he slowed down and spoke slowly when she continued with the awful and irrelevant questions. Someone has a PhD in oceanography, but lives on land!? Why would they write a book about the oceans!
