I have spoken before of the greed of some people involved in the Autism Treatment biz and this article graphically illustrates the problem!! I do not suggest that all those who offer Autism treatment are criminals - BUT WE DO KNOW that whenever govt money is on offer- THE PRICE RISES accordingly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thus Doug Ford IS NOT WRONG to rein in the costly and largely INEFFECTIVE Autism program created by shameless vote buying LIE-berals!! Cdns DO NOT believe that paying out $120 grand for a year of treatment so an Autistic child will voluntarily identify a cow- as the TVO documentary revealed - is a sound use of govt money- especially when the child WILL STOP voluntarily identifying the cow UNLESS $120 grand is spent each year into the future!!

Mom of autistic kids fears program shutdown means youngest won't get critical therapy

As the mother of three autistic kids, Jen Allan is enraged that funding meant for her kids’ development was instead squandered by a non-profit pre-school program on staff vacations and personal electronics.
(One has to feel for the woman- dealing with THREE Autistic kids- what a terrible life time blow!!!!!!!!!!!)
After a provincial audit led to the shutdown of Big Plans for Little Kids Ltd. , she worries her youngest won’t get the much-needed speech therapy that helps him communicate.
(Other news reports have suggested that value of such therapy is very hit or miss!! Several people who have actually been through the therapy as kids have recently been quoted in Sun articles- with one praising the therapy for its help and the other condemning it and claiming it has generated a form of PTSD in him!! The truth and level of success appears to depend largely on how badly damaged the child is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! )
(As the patient hostile to Autism treatment sneered- the therapy does not cure anything, it just suppresses the more obvious signs of Autism!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
“What has happened here is mortifying,” said Allan, from her home in Beiseker, Alberta, where all three of her children have attended a preschool that received funding and services through Big Plans.
“There were many red flags over the years that I wondered about. But now things make sense,” Allan said, explaining that two years ago her older daughter’s funding for at-home therapy was pulled mid-way through the year with no clear explanation.
But since the Big Plans program mainly supports kids who have not yet entered the public school system, Allan worries most for her four-year-old Frankie who would have benefitted from speech therapy this coming year.
“When special needs kids don’t keep getting the therapy they need there’s regression,” Allan said, adding that if Frankie goes back to being non-verbal he will become extremely frustrated.
(Yes- regression means the previous treatment “HAD NO POSITIVE RESULT”!!!!)
“I’ve seen it, and it can be a ball of fury, of frustration and upset. There’s no way he can communicate and there’s no way for us to know what he wants or needs.
“It’s like a newborn checklist — is he hungry, is he tired? It’s hard to know.”

The Alberta government revealed last week that funding for the Big Plans for Little Kids Ltd., which provides services for developmentally delayed children through a variety of programs in southern Alberta, won’t be receiving a government grant for 2019-2020.
After complaints about the company’s fiscal practices, auditors discovered funding geared to child therapy was instead spent on vacations, home electronics and dubious salaries.
(Oh yes- this is the most extreme sort of Poverty Pimp behaviour!! But lesser versions of such behaviour abound -as Practitioners make bold claims about how much they can help- and enlist - meaning sucker frantic parents to wheedle govt into supplying gravy that will RARELY produce any long term results!! It is not a scam but often it is very close to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
(The classic example is from an older TVO documentary where the kid will stop telling people his name and will no longer identify a cow - unless govt shells out $120 grand per year!! Few Cdns think this is a wise use of tax money in our bankrupt province of Ontari-owe!! The child will need life long care from govt once the parents are gone- where will this money come from -if too much is wasted on spurious claims of Fake Solutions?????)
The audit — begun late last year by KPMG under the previous NDP government — found that nearly $20,000 in grant money had been spent on five vacations by company owner Michael Souster to Hawaii, southern California, Vancouver and San Francisco.
It also found about $17,600 had been used to purchase electronic equipment, including Apple TVs for either personal use or for another company owned by Souster, and nearly $6,000 on personal storage.
The audit for 2013-2017 also found inconsistencies in salaries paid, stating that “it appears Big Plans has paid $5,400 for which there is no evidence work is being performed.”
And another $11,500 was paid by Big Plans for an unidentified person’s cellphone service plans.
While the province has said it’s seeking alternative spots for about 400 students affected by the program shutdown, Allan worries that many may not be able to find alternative funding.
“We will lose at least 30 hours of in-home therapy for my youngest son because of this.”
Some of those interviewed in the audit said Big Plans wasn’t fulfilling its commitment to provide at least 475 hours of early childhood services instruction annually to each child, said the KPMG report.
“If it had been meeting this requirement, then the cost to deliver these programs would have resulted in annual surpluses that were closer to budget,” it states.
Big Plans received $4.2 million to $4.3 million of funding from the province, which provided 98 per cent of its operating revenue.
(So an unholy alliance of frantic parents, damaged children and GREEDY Poverty Pimps has resulted in a serious abuse of tax payer money!! Somebody ought to be taking a HARD LOOK at what it is that govt is buying for these kids!! And questions SHOULD BE ASKED regarding IF we are getting value for money - because as it stands now WE ARE GETTING RIPPED OFF - too often paying for QUACK “CURES”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

WE know the right selection of medications can eliminate Schizophrenia completely and yet huge money is being dumped into nearly useless treatments for Autistic kids because the kids are more photogenic than adult Schizophrenic sufferers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
