Do you really believe that food, clothing and shelter just pop up out of thin air?

Yes. Food and the material that creates clothing literally does grow in "thin air".

Fact is this, people, regardless of political stripe expect something in return for an effort... Think quid pro quo.
In a capitalist society we need this mentality just to survive. This doesn't mean humans are naturally selfish.

Charity is all well and good (I might add, it is far more prevalent and generous in capitalist-founded societies than socialist)
No, charity is a wholly socialist ideal, there's no such thing as capitalist charity. It's not charity if it's done out of selfish reasons.

, however, western society is blinded by the never ending rights and entitlements and that is a byproduct of the socialist mentality that has been fostered by the do-gooders

What exactly are the rights and entitlements are you criticizing here? Health care??? Welfare? Social security in general? It's always interesting seeing people who probably aren't very privileged argue against their own well-being and wonder about the origins of where these beliefs came from.

The workers you refer top have been programmed to rely on Big Brother to gently wake in the morning, tuck them into bed at night and all things in between.

Guarantees of security in life coupled with the reliance on those that are prepared to assume risks on their behalf is what is undermining society

Certainly capitalism has fostered a reliance "big brother" out of necessity for its own survival. The bourgeoisie leeches cannot continue their privileged livelihoods without the continuing exploitation of the working class.

Factoid :When Roosevelt introduced welfare, it went against the Constitution.
Factoid: Roosevelt didn't introduce welfare. Then as now, most welfare is provided by states and subordinate jurisdictions and long pre-dates the Federal welfare programmes.

Yet another factoid: the first Federal welfare act was the Emergency Relief and Construction Act of 1932, signed into law by President Herbert Hoover. Roosevelt did not take office until 1933.

Actually... unlike most fat azzed libtard socialists I keep in kick azz shape. Try doing P90X for a week and get back to me. Forget it... you'd be puking from years of sitting on your fat can looking for handouts and it actually takes hard work and dedication to complete 90 days of it and your fat azz would probably need six cycles.

And food and cotton simply grow themselves in the wild to be harvested and fed to the masses. Cotton weaves itself into clothing from thin air and food simply floats to the dinner table magically!

Nice post dumb azz.

Last factoid: the Social Security Act, which consolidated and formalised the various emergency Federal welfare provisions, was tested in a series of Supreme Court cases in 1937, when it was upheld as Constitutional.

So, to sum up the errors in your "factoid:"

1. Welfare was not introduced by the Federal government.

2. Federal government participation in welfare was introduced by Hoover, not Roosevelt.

3. Federal government welfare was never unConstitutional, rather, when it was tested, the Supreme Court explicitly found it Constitutional.

Three errors in one sentence. Not bad.
