What has Trump done to their minds?? The cult effect is certainly evident.....ie Trump town.
He's trained people to think his corruption and his sociopathy is the new norm.
Studies show, however, that people with sleep deprivation tend to exhibit disturbing behaviour and Trump averages about 4 hours sleep per day. So he's not what anyone with much education would call "stable". He's quite volatile, obviously.

Former New York mayor Mike Bloomberg has qualified for Wednesdays Democratic presidential debate in Las Vegas

His presence would set up a clash that will test the staying power of a campaign that has so far been defined by the hundreds of millions in personal money he has spent in pursuit of the nomination.

Democratic rivals have made clear they hope to turn the debate into a showdown over Bloombergs record on spending, race and the history of confidential agreements he has struck with women who accused him of making inappropriate comments in the workplace.

He will begin appearing on ballots in March, having skipped the first four primary contests.

Bloomberg is a threat to him....on many levels. He is far richer than Donald. He is essentially honest and became successful at a level Trump could only wish. Bloomberg has nothing to lose. Trump does. Bloomberg is handling all this very intelligently. and strategically.........while Trump is just a low level disorganized bumpkin........with a big mouth and a nastier twitter account. Because Bloomberg is so much richer....... Trump is bothered by that ......as money and numbers relating to money & status are what matter to Trump. He is of that outdated thinking that more is better, bigger is better.......etc. Trump only embarrasses himself by calling Bloomberg short etc.. But then he has no problem embarrassing himself on a daily basis. One can imagine historians reading his crap on twitter a hundred or more years from now........and wondering why the man had not been restrained....... in some psych ward.

Bloomberg has long been a threat to Trump. And Trump has long been envious of Bloomberg's money and standing in upper crust NY. A society that never accepted Trump. They see him as a joke.

When I read the highlighted line in your post I had a good laugh. I imaging historians one day reading these quotes from previous presidents "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" or "Leave nothing for tomorrow which can be done today." and "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." Then they flip the page and read the following from Trump: "Sorry losers and haters, but my I.Q. is one of the highest-and you all know it. Please don't feel so stupid or insecure, it's not your fault" or the classic: 'Despite the constant negative press covfefe."

Thanks for the laugh.

Michael Bloomberg Makes It To the Debate Stage. He May Regret It

Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg will face the first direct test to his late-to-start bid for the presidency as he stands at the podium next to his Democratic rivals on Wednesday on the Las Vegas Strip.

For a lot of Americans, the debate will be their first time seeing Bloomberg on screen without a Bloomberg film crew editing the plot from behind the scenes. For the other candidates, it will be their first chance to go head to head with the billionaire who has been vastly outspending anyone on the stage and who is poised to challenge Sen. Bernie Sanders’ front-runner status.
Bloomberg is certain to draw fire from everyone present. The candidates will have fertile ground to challenge his record running America’s largest city. He is expected to be called to task for past comments about gender and race that appear insensitive, at best. And other candidates will not forget to mention how he has used his vast personal wealth to enter the primary race on Super Tuesday — after voters in four states will have already weighed in.
Bloomberg’s entry into a race he once said he would skip shifted the campaign’s axis. He has already spent hundreds of millions of dollars introducing himself to the nation and launching his bid with a coast-to-coast play before 14 states weigh in on March 3’s Super Tuesday. In those states alone, he has doled out $124 million in ads, compared to Sanders’ outlay of less than $10 million. Bloomberg’s wealth and spending alike dwarf the checkbook of the other billionaire still in the mix, Tom Steyer, who did not qualify for Wednesday’s debate. Bloomberg’s campaign seems to have limitless resources, replete with lavish spreads and open bars at his events.
His ad blitz appears to be working. In an NBC News/ Wall Street Journal poll released Tuesday, only 8 percent of Americans said they didn’t know Bloomberg’s name, compared to 18 percent who were unfamiliar with him in December.
Wednesday will be one of two debates Democrats have before Super Tuesday, and the highest profile chance Bloomberg’s rivals will get to show their mettle against the new moderate in the race. Because Bloomberg isn’t participating in the Nevada caucuses or South Carolina primary, this is their best opportunity to show relative strength against a billionaire who has pledged to open his pockets through November, whether he is the nominee or not.
The brief against Bloomberg is significant, and his advisers know this as well as anyone. In preparation for the debate, advisers have been hurling mock rejoinders and pointed questions at Bloomberg about his record both as mayor and as head of a vast media and financial data empire that made him into one of the richest people on the planet...……….More

George Zimmerman sues Warren, Buttigieg for $265M, accuses them of attempting to garner black votes by defaming him

George Zimmerman, the onetime neighborhood watch volunteer who was acquitted in the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin in Florida, is suing Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg for $265 million (C$350 million), claiming both 2020 Democratic presidential candidates defamed him in an attempt to "garner votes in the black community."
The lawsuit filed in Polk County, Fla., Tuesday argues Warren and Buttigieg’s two separate tweets on Feb. 5, which would have been Martin’s 25th birthday, used the killing “as a pretext to demagogue and falsely brand Zimmerman as a white supremacist and racist to their millions of Twitter followers.”

Martin’s death sparked nationwide protests and largely helped launch the Black Lives Matter movement. Zimmerman, however, was acquitted in 2013 on all charges against him. His defense claimed he acted in self-defense by shooting Martin, an unarmed black teen, after the 17-year-old attacked him on his neighborhood watch shift, beating his head into the ground.
“Trayvon Martin would have been 25 today. How many 25th birthdays have been stolen from us by white supremacy, gun violence, prejudice, and fear? #BlackLivesMatter,” Buttigieg tweeted to his 1.6 million followers. The message garnered 42,000 likes, 13,300 replies and 6,600 retweets in just three days, the lawsuit states.
“My heart goes out to @SybrinaFulton and Trayvon's family and friends. He should still be with us today. We need to end gun violence and racism. And we need to build a world where all of our children—especially young Black boys—can grow up safe and free,” Warren tweeted to her 3.6 million followers on the same day, sharing four photos of Trayvon Martin as a small child, between the ages of 4 and 10. The message received 7,300 likes and 1,000 retweets in three days, in addition to national media coverage, the lawsuit states.

The lawsuit argued Warren and Buttigieg falsely tied Martin’s death to “gun violence,” a term that more appropriately describes the “reckless and indiscriminate use of illegally owned firearms." It also claims the tweets defamed Zimmerman by implying he acted out of racism or white supremacy when he shot Martin.

"The only 'fear' Zimmerman experienced, as established in the 2013 trial and well-covered in the media, was in the context of Zimmerman believing he might go unconscious and die from the repeated beating of his head against the sidewalk pavement or by choking to death from the blood going down his throat due to his broken nose during the beating by Martin,” the lawsuit states.
The complaint also points out that Zimmerman led a community-wide effort to seek justice for Sherman Ware, a homeless black man who was attacked by the son of a white police officer, and was acting as a mentor in a program for African-American teens whose parents were in prison at the time of the shooting.
"It is high time that the cheap and harmful use of the race card by politicians of all stripes be made to cease and desist," Zimmerman's attorney and founder of conservative legal rights group Judicial Watch, Larry Klayman, said in a statement, according to Newsweek. "Their despicable 'race tactics' are not only causing great harm to persons such as my client George Zimmerman, but also are damaging relations between black and white Americans who are all brothers.
"The nation should applaud Mr. Zimmerman for taking a strong stand and pushing back against hack politicians like Buttigieg and Warren, who know no bounds of decency and frankly could obviously care less about whom they hurt in their quest to dishonesty use and manipulate black voters to win the 2020 Democrat presidential primary."

In a separate lawsuit filed in Polk County in December, Zimmerman is seeking "$100 million in civil damages, alleging defamation, abuse of civil process and conspiracy," from Martin’s family and others. Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, who has become a gun control advocate in the wake of her son's death and is running for a seat on the Miami-Dade County Commission, is named as the lead defendant in the case.

I think it distasteful that Buttigieg and Warren are politicizing the death of Martin. That said Zimmerman is a pretty shady figure himself who is looking to profit off the death of his victim. I remember bits and pieces of the trial/story and while I don't recall the entire thing Zimmerman has remained in the news. He has been accused of taunting Martin's family, launching frivolous lawsuits and even held an auction to sell the gun which he used to kill Martin. He has also been arrested for aggravated assault and domestic violence which does not lend to credibility.

I don't know much about the case, but acquitted usually means not guilty, no matter how much one wants to say an indictment means guilty.

Oh but you are swimming in murky waters, an acquittal does not mean innocent, it simply means that the prosecution failed to prove guilt:

https://www.nealdavislaw.com/blog/criminal-defense/acquittal-vs-not-guilty

"Essentially, a verdict of not guilty is an acquittal. If a jury or judge finds you not guilty of a criminal charge, you are acquitted and your case is closed. If you’re found guilty of a charge, you are said to be convicted and must face the penalties imposed for the crime, though you have the option to appeal. In this way, a conviction is the opposite of an acquittal.

But an acquittal doesn’t mean the jury or judge found you innocent of the charge. It only means that the prosecution failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you were guilty."

Oh OK, not guilty can be found guilty if the prosecution is unable to prove you guilty, gotcha, carry on

Indeed. That case was racially charged as well. He killed a black kid who was carrying a bag of skittles. Zimmerman is an arrogant prick. (and that is being polite) Trump Would Probably pardon him.
