About this hurricane: it is an example that even the most scientific centers like the NHC and others cannot anticipate exactly the outcome of such storms.
At the start, they thought it is a simple one that will pass and disappears within few days.
Then they thought it will mostly slam Florida, so their president declared a state of emergency in Florida; then they moderated that and said: it will fall heavily on North Carolina.
Therefore, their knowledge is not absolute; moreover, they have nothing to do other than to evacuate people from the way of such hurricanes.
In addition, their pride prevents them from admitting that such people are not righteous and they are sinful so that such storms have afflicted them .. therefore they attribute such storms to the change of weather and other natural factors.

The latest word is that the infrastructure is totally destroyed and big swaths of the population are either out of communications or no longer able to communicate.
I suppose you think they're all out on the sidewalks sweeping up the leaves and little branches. This one was like the one that hit Haiti a few years ago, along with that big earth quake. They'll be discovering human remains in the Bahamas, still, next labour Day.
Less than 8000 died in natural disasters globally last year.
What makes you think 1 storm and 1 island would make up a 1/4 of that?
How many died in Puerto Rico?
This was the same sized storm as that one but Dorian parked itself over the same spot for an extra day and night.
