The head of an Ontario-based pet food company said Friday he has no idea how rat poison got into in its products, but denied his company was negligent.

Yep noticed all the American medias are

Menu Foods based in CANADA, and they are saying on American media:

Canadian based Menu Foods had no guidelines to follow in the production of pet food in Canada, because Canada has not guidelines for pet food.

Boy they are trying to demonize Canada again!

Your favourite American media have got it wrong again, and as usual they pay attention to Canada only when they think we've done something wrong. They probably also failed to note that Menu Foods has two manufacturing plants in the United States, where the stuff that caused the deaths in the U.S. came from. That's clear in the story at the link in the OP. Doesn't appear that U.S. standards worked very well either. Just wait, Bill O'Reilly will blame it on dope-smoking married homosexuals working in the plant in Toronto... There are standards for pet food manufacturing in Canada, but the industry isn't government regulated, it's self-regulating through organizations like the Pet Food Association of Canada. I'd agree that self-regulation is not as good as regulation by a disinterested third party, but it's not true to say there are no standards.

I'm curious to find out how it got there in the first place.

Maybe it was to help pets with their blood clouts. ;) Or perhaps to prevent a second stroke from your pets.

Aparently somebody put rat poison in there ON PURPOSE to have animals die.

Maybe the constant reference to Canada is because it may have came from the Canadian plant?

I don't know.

Anyways I called the toll free number to find out if my brand of dog food for my pup was on the list but "all circuits are busy"

Did you actually read the link in the OP? The prime suspect right now is wheat gluten that came from China, and the source of the tainted food in the United States was the plants in the United States.

The list of affected products is here, among other places. That site will probably be less busy than the company's site.

menufoods.com even has themselves listed under contact us at a Canadian address.

Is this some sort of setup against Canada?
