  • I have not been victim of an on line scam but I am wondering how a scam out of Canmore, which has been exposed to Alberta government Services has not been completely shut down.
Andre Muran of Canmore set up several companies back in the late 90's/ early 00's.
These companies were intentionally set up to defraud consumers.
When Alberta Government Services finally got enough evidence against them, 125 criminal charges were laid against Andre Muran and his companies.
Muran copped a plea and signed an Undertaking promising never to do it again...
At his "Royal Club International" offices in Calgary and Edmonton, the signs came down and new "Chateau World" signs went up. The same scam continued under the new name- and Alberta Government Services is aware of this. They continue to have complaints against Andre Muran and his companies and still, these businesses operate (in spite of the fact that Chateau World is an unlicensed travel club and in spite of the fact that many of Muran's companies (which are invlovled in the scam) have been struck from the corporate registry.

Now, the two properties (Banff Gate Mountain Lodge and Spa and Chateau Canmore) in Canmore that Chateau World was selling "memberships" in are being foreclosed on. Andre Muran's home is listed as a Judicial sale and the Promissory notes of members were sold to Travellers Acceptance in BC.
Members are now unable to get anyone on the phone. The numbers and email addresses on the Chateau World website are all not working. Members can not get what their contracts promise and this financial company is chasing them for money owed placing their credit ratings at risk.
There is so much more to this story. If you are interested at all check out CHEATauWorld.ca
