LOS ANGELES - Two adults and two children believed to be family members were found shot to death in a Southern California home in what police are investigating as a suspected triple murder and suicide, police said on Tuesday.
Police were called to the home in Fontana, about 80 km east of Los Angeles, by a 16-year-old boy who is apparently related to the victims and discovered the crime scene when he went to the house on Monday night, Fontana police Sergeant Doug Imhof said.
Imhof said the teenager was not a suspect.
In the house, police found the bodies of a man and a woman, each about 35 to 40 years old, and a boy about 10 years old and a girl roughly 12, Imhof said.
The woman and children had all suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and the man suffered a single gunshot to the head, he said. Blood was found in different areas of the house.
Investigators who were at the scene on Tuesday morning were "looking at it as a murder-suicide situation," with the man believed to have been the killer, the sergeant said.
The bodies were discovered at about 8:30 p.m., but detectives believe the shootings occurred some time earlier in the day, he said.
The four victims are all believed to be family members, but the exact nature of their relationships were still being sorted out, Imhof said.
There was no motive for the killings that was readily apparent, he said.

God when will people learn to get help instead of repeating the terrible acts
year after year. It is becoming more and more clear even gun violence is
not the issue mental illness is the issue. If governments invested in decreasing
mental illness the rate of murder might well lessen

Do these people who kill their families not realize how cowardly and selfish this is? Its just unbelievable and so sad. I just want to scream every time I hear stuff like this.

Most likely not. In all likelihood, they have some mental health issues. What really needs to happen is to create the climate where people feel comfortable coming forward when they have mental health issues. It also helps if others don't ignore the problems or look for other reasons (which is what happened with my wife). fortunately when she deteriorated to the point that she tried to push her father down a flight of stairs she failed

Once they reach the point where they are murdering others and committing suicide they are far beyond seeking help. It's a complex issue.

We are moving forward, but we have a long way to go. It should be no different than telling somone that you have a bad back or diabetes.

Most people do not understand displays of mental illness. It is the same with physical illness too, it is not well understood by many people. They have to be educated about it. Glad your wife was unsuccessful in killing her father.

I’m not fully convinced of that Sal, first of all diabetes isn’t quite as connected to inhibitions as mental health and secondly think of a person going to their doctor about a swollen knee as opposed to swollen testicles or clitoris.

In hindsight, it was the best thing that could have happened as she was unaware of her problem. Her parents called the cops and she was given a choice between jail and the hospital. Three days in the hospital and two doctors signed the required papers to take away her ability to make decisions for herself. There is nothing you can do for somebody with mental issues unless they want help or try and hurt somebody or themselves.

No, you clearly haven't

Don't go getting yourself banned over him, Goob, it just ain't worth it. You've pointed out what most of us already know. "You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear" -:)

He won't get banned. At worst he's going to make himself look incredibly stupid, if he hasn't already. He should really talk to Gerry before he goes down this road. I personally don't care how stupid he makes himself look but I always like to give people an option

Refute them. or fuk off

Oh my...you do seem to be getting angry. Are you starting to realize you are way over your head?

I'm not really interested in refuting all of your mind-numbing silliness but I will throw out a few. You made the silly statement that "The Police do not offer choices", and of course, anybody with an I.Q. over two knows that the police don't take dementia patients and lock them in a cell. In fact, with 30 seconds and google, I found this...

Justice Services | Canadian Mental Health Association, Ontario Division

Once the apprehension is made, the officer escorts the individual to an examination by a physician, typically to a hospital emergency department

Obviously police have the discretion. Would you like me to continue?

The police are ill equipped to deal with the mentally ill. A large percentage of homeless people today are not the stereotypical bums, but folks who were once institutionalized or have nowhere to go. We have failed miserably in this country providing health care to those affected by mental illness and often police are left to deal with byproduct of that failure.

I did not embarrass myself. But as you brought it up, what did you do to assist, care, sought help, protection order for your wife before she tried to kill her father.
