What does being Canadian mean to you? (Happy Canada Day!!)

To me being a Canadian means freedom. The ability to speak when you want, and to stand up for what you believe in. The pleasure to be able to visit your neighbors no matter there race, and to sleep peacefully at night not worrying that your home will be gone in the morning. For all those reasons I am very blessed and happy to live in the country of Canada.

So what does it mean to be Canadian for you? :canada:

Lots of places have freedom, that's not uniquely Canadian. To me being Canadian means being a citizen of one of the more sane, civilized, and respected nations on the planet, and a member of a community that includes, and welcomes, the best the world has to offer. Pretty much every culture, every society in the world, is represented here, we welcome them and celebrate them and can learn about them and take part in them without ever leaving home, the whole world is here. In the city where I live there's an annual celebration of all the ethnic and cultural groups to be found here, they set up venues where you can sample their food and drink, hear their music, see their dances, meet them, talk to them, and I always visit as many of them as I can, it's a wondrous experience. And the one crucial thing they all have in common is that, whatever else they may be, they're all Canadians, and glad to be so.

You must not live in Quebec. :p

For me, it's seeing family spread out across this great country that I wouldn't normally see. Cheers Canada!

If I were to go to any liquor store in Canada at 5:45 (or sunset) on a Friday I'll run into somebody I'm related to.

The Winnipeg Heebs bust loose the hardest.

Hmmm, I never thought of it but if it weren't for the CDN Galician Heebs, we'd all work harder on Fridays and EDOs redeemed on Friday wouldn't exist.

God Bless their Union hearts.

Their pickled herring is another gift to Fridays although unrelated to Canada Day but noteworthy of recognition.

What is your Cultural Gift to Canada?

Grain elevators and Canola, two things that I remember clearly as a child because it's totally dissimilar from Ontario.

It's not the soybeans, it's the reaction to soybeans that are notable.

Wild oats too for some reason although there is no money for producers.

All I'm saying is don't read my extreme lack of enthusiasm as a complete lack of caring.

Wait, here we go, 'yaa soybeans'. :D

Wild oats are definitely a sexier crop. ;)

Nice stuff huh?

Not many men can offer up thousands of acres of flowers can they?

Flannel and linen have proven their point ages ago,

Think about it.

A field of beautiful flowers, or a field of sheep...

Homie don't itch!

I'm thinking about it. I'm torn...I have allergies plus I love a good rack of lamb.

Maybe I could look through a window or at a picture of beautiful fields of flowers whilst enjoying a nice herb-mustard crusted rack of lamb cooked to a nice medium rare?

Homie don't itch!

Good to know. Seeing too much scratching can make a gal nervous.Lol.
