Leaving parked vehicle

191 (1) A motor vehicle must be equipped with a lock or other device to prevent the unauthorized use of the motor vehicle.
(2) A driver must not permit a motor vehicle to stand unattended or parked unless the driver has
(a) locked it or made it secure in a manner that prevents its unauthorized use, and
(b) if the motor vehicle is standing on a grade, turned the front wheels of the vehicle to the curb or side of the highway.

Seems reasonable to me, especially in front of a school.

... seems to me these little known laws should be made public. but then keeping them secret is much more lucrative, isn't it?

... if the above is the justification for ticketing people who leave their car windows open then the part about it being illegal to leave your windows open definitely is top secret. seems only the cops know about it because it's not in the legislation ...

Yes it is, you just have to have the ability to use logic and a minimal understanding of the English language.

Yet here we are.

So it would seem.

Sigh...an open window would enable someone to reach in and unlock the door, therefore an open window equals an unsecured vehicle.

Not that big of a joke, Wiz, when you leave your car window open and your car or the possessions within get swiped and you report it to the cops, how much money do you think the taxpayer gets hit with before the file is closed?

... oh, it's a tax savings scheme? sounds more like a phony ticket scam to me ...

... there is no such thing as a secure car, even one that's locked with the windows up. how easy is it for a tow truck to haul a vehicle away? the government does it all the time for parking violations. are those cars secure? hardly ...

... it would take a hell of a lot more than a closed window to secure a car -- you'd basically have to put a car in a locked vault to truly secure it ...
