I am 90% sure this is actually him who read my letter!
I think you can be about 99.99% sure he didn't see it, and wouldn't have cared if he did. "Thank you for your kind words" sounds pretty generic. Try having a few friends send him another supportive message; I'll bet they get exactly the same response you did. The mail is probably sorted into two categories, supporters and critics, and everybody in the former category gets the same letter. And there's probably another one for the critics that says something like "Thank you for your interest in the program." Possibly with "Shut the Hell up" appended.
You actually like this guy? You won't get any useful news from him, or from Fox. He's a demagogue, I've seen him shout down people who disagree with him, he's not interested in intelligent dialog, he's interested in putting people down. And he lies, especially about himself. He claimed to have won a Peabody award for his work on the "Inside Edition" program, for instance. Not true. That was exposed, so he changed his tune: it was the Polk award. It's true that the "Inside Edition" received a Polk award, but it was after O'Reilly had left the program. No honour to him. He also makes much of his supposedly working class origins. He used to claim that he came from Levittown, a fairly low level suburb, until his mother Angela explained to the Washington Post that he grew up in Westbury, Long Island, a middle class neighbourhood. In the first chapter of his book
The O'Reilly Factor he claims his family was pretty far down on the social totem pole, which seems to have meant they could afford only one vacation in Florida a year. And they had enough money to send him to a private school, and Boston University for two degrees, and a year in England in between.
According to the Boston Globe, he manages to make about $4 million a year. Lot of money to pretend to be a regular guy while shamelessly shilling for the powers that exploit them for one of the biggest media conglomerates in the world. And you think he's going to read an email from a guy in Canada? Wasn't he one of the guys who called us Canuckistan, claimed the 9/11 terrorists entered the U.S. from Canada, and said Canada is a hot bed of anti-U.S. terrorists? He has no respect for facts, he can't think clearly, and he's exactly what he pretends not to be, a wealthy elitist shilling for America's political far right.
