Safer in what respect?

Toronto has more murders but a lot more population. I think Regina SK has been near the top of the per-capita murder rates in Canada (statistics are a couple years old). But your chance of being killed is greater with a higher per-capita rate.

Most dangerous, crime-ridden cities in Canada are all in the West.

Vernon is #9 on this list:

Bad, old Ontario and nasty, nasty Quebec don't even show up at all on any lists. I guess that the constant hate propaganda about the East out your way is nonsense.

Murder is only one of many ways to die.

Murder is normal.

Murder is good.

Everything is fine. (insert smiley face)

Lesson #1 that a lot of you forum freaks don't seem to learn too well...…Figures can lie and liars can figure. Most figures can be cherry picked almost any way you like to get the results you desire. Intelligent people aren't fooled by it. How does Vernon stack up in terms of life expectancy?

Then do your own research. I cut and pasted them in order from a Google search, no "cherry picking". Instead of insulting me, check for yourself.

Maybe, just maybe, you and the other Eastern Haters are full of shyte.

I just did my own research there, Einstein! B.C. is tied with Ontario for the longest life expectancy among Canadian provinces, so there's no need to go arrogant on us! :)

It doesn't mention the Okanagan specifically.

I will note that the county that I live in (Halton Region) is listed as #4 in the top ten healthiest places in Canada. Higher incomes and rates of post-secondary education are likely the cause. The natural environment here is not too bad but certainly not as healthy as that of the Interior of B.C. we are directly down wind from the Ohio Valley here in Oakville and air pollution is an issue.

I imagine a few people here are old enough to remember the nauseating slogan 'Toronto the Good' sneered by the same smug rejects who's families are under siege from bullets seemingly weekly in the Dump of Dumps.

The place is handy to change planes mostly because you don't have to go anywhere near downtown to do so.

I've never had the fortune of being in Toronto and hope I never do.
