From where will the money be generated from? Not the mining sector, the outlook for copper and other base metals is pretty poor till the end of 2017... Gold dropped back down to around 1250 again and copper got kicked in the balls so hard that even Chile's economy is starting to buckle

Watchdog admits Liberals can balance books next year

Ontario’s budget watchdog says Premier Kathleen Wynne’s Liberals will be able to balance the books next year as they promised.

But in a report to the legislature Wednesday, Financial Accountability Officer Stephen LeClair warned the red ink could soon begin gushing again due to “rising spending pressures” from provincial programs.

“Given the flexibility built into the government’s fiscal projections, the province is in a position to achieve its commitment of balancing the budget in 2017-18,” LeClair wrote in his 45-page quarterly economic and fiscal outlook.

While he forecasts a $4-billion deficit for this year and a $580 million shortfall for next year, revenue growth indicates Ontario will indeed soon be back in the black.

In the Feb. 25 budget, Finance Minister Charles Sousa forecast a $4.3 billion deficit this year and a small surplus after that.

They can. But will they? THey could have balanced the books this year if they hadn't gone on a spending spree.

Hey maybe thrudOWE will increase the equalization payment next year.

It will most likely be identical to Quebec this year. A $2 billion surplus after receiving $10 billion in equalization from Alberta who coincidentally has a $10 billion deficit. Not that that's why we're totally pissed at the feds and eastern Canada...ok it is but it's a valid reason.

That we've already spent much, much more after 2008 and we're doing just fine.

Equalization payments mostly.

No, our GDP is much bigger than what we received in equalization.

And we will gladly support Alberta the same way during its tough times because.. we're not selfish ingrates.

In per capita GDP you are $20K per person behind SK.

In a human capital sense, you are worthless.

There's a first time for everything. The East has yet to send any payments west of Ontario and I don't forsee them starting anytime soon. Selfish ingrates is absolutely correct.

I hear that Wynne is buying up Powerball tickets at an alarming rate. She has a gambling problem, spending everyone's money that she can lay her hands on. She makes any promise that will get her more cash to spend. It really is sickening.

In the US years ago, they used to shoot state governors that were bad for the people. Funny that has stopped.

How much does Wynne pay her cheerleaders ... and in what?
They used to say, if you didn't start a good rumour by lunch, it wasn't much of a day.

Wynne's proposal - outline.

Stop education at Gr. 10 for the children that do not test well enough to continue past there and on to unicursity or Coll-AHGE.

It reduces the number of teachers. Salaries are the biggest expense for any business. Unneeded schools and related infrastructure will be eliminated, saving more.

Parents will be responsible for ensuring their children report to provincial government work farms. These include, but are not limited to, agriculture, manufacturing, petrochemical, power generation, construction and light maintenance (garbage pick up & roadway beatification, grass cutting, etc) Provincial jobs will be filled first.

In limited circumstances, 15 to 19 yr olds who show technical/mechanical aptitude after working for a minimum of six months on a farm, may be sent for enhanced training.

Children who demonstrate advanced aptitudes will be allowed to attend colleges or universities (at their own expense). Upon graduation, they must work for the Ontario government for four years. After that time, they can remain with the government or move to the private sector. Wages for their four years will be less than that of their private sector counterparts - i.e.,doctors, engineers, tradesmen.

The new program has been named the Government Underwritten Labour and Graduated Skills (GULAG). The program is expected to improve Ontario's standard of living and reduce the debt. The money saved and infrastructure built, repaired or refurbished all contribute to a happier, healthier province. It is also expected to reduce crime and improve the health of residents by ensuring they eat balanced meals and grow better, more sustainable food crops.

There is also an Ontario government 'initiative' afoot to recycle deceased humans for food, fertilizer, research and spare parts. Insiders have dubbed it, "Soylent Wynne".
