To the Arctic and beyond!

National Defence spent $14,000 on poll about superheroes' abilities

OTTAWA - Defence researchers spent almost $14,000 on a survey that asked whether superheroes can leap over skyscrapers.

The study for the research arm of National Defence also asked 150 people online whether superheroes can fly through the air; see through walls; hear whispers from miles away; become invisible; and walk through walls.

The oddball questions were part of a short study completed in October to help the Canadian Forces "win the hearts and minds" of the local populations it faces when deployed overseas, such as recently in Afghanistan.

Some of the questions were designed to probe people's expectations about — as the study put it — "supernatural categories that are so prevalent in popular culture and religion."

Truly a waste of money. Imagine that money could have bought a lot of Christmas dinners
Seriously this is just dumb, all this wrapping events up in the flag and making everyone a
hero for one thing or another. It shows how silly we have become. Pretty soon people will
be hero's because the went to work in the morning. Everyone who does the slightest thing
is a hero. We even solicit hero's find a hero in your neighbourhood for gods sake.
I can't believe how we are attracted to hero worship and we all want to mourn the death of
something or someone. Now some notable people I can understand that but we starte
mourning the deaths of school children while we celebrate right for people to have guns with
enough ammunition to kill all the kids we are mourning.
Now we want our hero's to do imaginary things like jump over buildings and we're willing
to spend taxpayers money to do it.

They are already on the payroll and would just be doing their job to morally support their constituents in a time of need. Where did I post that they should fix anyone's house?

Dear Canada,

Superheroes are fictional.

Sincerely,

DC and Marvel

please please no one tell our enemies that if they stood up ten guys in tights and capes on the battlefront the whole Canadian army might just turn around and run the other way!
