Consumer concerns about the safety of plastic water bottles have made some retailers, like Mountain Equipment Co-op, stop selling them.
Mountain Equipment Co-op is removing products containing bisphenol-A from its stores because of health concerns.
(CBC)
The hard, clear plastic that the bottles are made from contains a chemical called Bisphenol A that can leach out in very small amounts. The chemical has been shown to mimic the human hormone, estrogen.
Health Canada is examining whether the amount of the chemical released into liquid is large enough to pose any risk.
Are these concerns enough to make you change your water bottle, or not?
